Rivian is 275/55 R21 which only one is made by Pirelli. However if you go to 275/50 R21 , there are a 10 options on discount tires website. I don't know much about tires, but what happened if you put 275/50 R21 on the Rivian?

thanks

Go enter the size here to see.

https://tiresize.com/calculator/

You'll find that you'll rack up miles on the odometer and your speedo will be off by quite a bit.

You need to goto 305/50/21 to maintain the same OD and keep the speedo accurate.

No option there for 305/50/21 . Next closest is 315/45/21 , which come up 1 from Pirelli

Also for the wider tires like 305 or 315, you'll need a wider rims and not sure it will even fit within the fender well of Rivian.

This is exactly why many people have opted for 20" or 22" wheels.

Currently, if you get/have 21", you're pretty much stuck without options.

you mean you can put that on a 21" rim?
No. Meaning the diameter of the 20” tire is the same as the OE 21” tire— 33”

General question: would a load rating of 115 be OK?

The per charge mileage is best on the 21" Verde all season tire, the other tread having a knobby look is measurable less mileage per charge. So, my having a home charger powered by my home solar panels, my biggest expense is the tires, because I have the "All Season" tire.
One question is aside from noise, is it cheaper to go to the knobby tread and get mileage out of the tires, at the loss of mileage of the battery charge?

The 22" tires are rated at 115. So, I was planning on risking it.

Also, pretty soon, I think we'll find a cheap(ish) 20" wheels with the right offset that when combined with the cost of some 20" AS tires, will be only slightly more expensive than just getting new tires for the 21" wheels. I suspect the trade off will be better by the second time replacing the tires.

Tire load rating is for maximum load on the vehicle times factor of safety (usually 1.5x) so unless you intend to overload your vehicle, it should be ok...

I texted with Michelin customer service today about a Rivian OE size tire. Not hopeful but really impressed with the quality of the customer service! Screenshots below.

I also sent an inquiry into BFG today asking for them to consider making a KO2 or KO3 in 275/55/R21 to give an A/T option for the 21s. If enough of us do, perhaps it will gain some traction. I think when we talk about A/Ts, speed rating will be the limiting factor as very few LT A/Ts are rated appropriately for the R1's speed limiter.
