I've test driven a Hummer EV SUV, you can feel every one of its 9,000+ lbs. Ride comfort is surprisingly nice, it kind of wallows about. Sudden turns and braking make it feel like the beast is going to roll or flip over. Interior materials quality is really rental-car spec but roominess, especially in the second row, far outpaces the R1S. Trunk space, due to the massive double stack battery, isn't great but the frunk is a pretty decent size. Wind noise doesn't come as much from the windows like R1 but from the plastic roof panels.

I wouldn't, and didn't, buy one but in a few years it would be a fun $40-50K used EV.

Here is a pic of one parked next to my old Model S Plaid. It's hard to judge the scale of a Hummer without something next to it. It's crazy.

The Hummer is fun, and I was between one of them and the R1S when I traded in my T. I ultimately went for the Rivian as it is made as a daily driver whereas the Hummer is made to be a fun toy but have compromises. The R1S handles the pavement better than the Hummer does, and the majority of people buying one of these is to be a mall crawler or road trip vehicle which is my use case.

I'd rather take a road trip in the Rivian, which that plus the speed, made it win out over the GMC.

I never stacked them, but I wanted to.

It doesn't look as dramatic as it feels while driving each one. I could absolutely drive the Hummer as a daily as I have experience driving massive vehicles but the R1 feels smaller without being cramped.

When we spent a week towing the camper with the Sierra, getting back into my R1T did feel a little cramped. But that feeling only lasted the first drive. Going back and forth between a Rivian and the Sierra mostly just disappoints me when I get on the throttle in the Sierra. I wish there was a way to default the max power mode to on instead of having to hit a button every time.

I haven't driven one, but it's encouraging to see the hood height being broadly similar (assuming the Rivian is in High, not Highest).

The Silverado EV's seating position drove me bananas. Can you see over the hood in the Hummer? Because even as a 5'10" regularly-dimensioned-human I hated driving the Chevy.

The horsepower numbers are relative and pretty meaningless except on paper. Neither can put down that power without massive wheelspin or traction control taking over.
