2025.06 Made PAAK amazing for me for my G1 R1T

PAAK was pretty underwhelming for me with previous software releases. With both my iPhone 15Pro and 16Pro, the truck would take forever to unlock. I would speed this up by waking my phone after arriving to the vehicle and it would immediately unlock.

This process was super annoying when carrying something, or if it was raining.

However after the last several days with 2025.06, this one line...

• Improved responsiveness of proximity unlocking with a phone key while the vehicle is parked.

...has done wonders for the vehicle. Now PAAK works like it was supposed to over the last few years.

We both use Pixel 9 Pros, will still walk up and see gear guard gary on, but no unlock (this is while using PAAK) Have to toggle the unlock on screen/widget.

That kind of sounds like the Rivian app doesn't have permission to run in the background on the phone. Just guessing.

Just got the update installed yesterday but my early impressions are in line with yours, it works great, like it always should have!

How often are you getting unwanted unlocks? That was always the problem before, Rivian kept tuning the unlock distance too far in either direction.

None that I've noticed. Ours lives in the garage and we have auto lock/unlock turned off at home, FWIW

Distance is about the same for me. But I suppose it could unlock more often if you pass though the area and because it was slow, it unlocks now. But not an issue for me.

Stories like these really make it a head scratcher why they didn't put a capacitive touch sensor on the handle so it would immediately wake up the truck when you touch it and unlock, and would remove the need for the settings and adjustments people have to do when it's parked at home.

I have a Razr+ and have a similar experience. It used to work fine but stopped a month or so ago. If I stop and start Bluetooth on my phone it unlocks fine. I went through all of the battery saving and background settings but no joy. My wife's iPhone works flawlessly.

This morning I deleted my owner PAAK, rebooted the infotainment system, deleted the Rivian app from my phone and reinstalled it. The app immediately asked to add my phone as a key. Did that and so far so good. . My theory is that an app registers for background permissions and something I changed messed that up and it couldn't recover without a reinstall. The proof will be tomorrow morning.

Gen 2 they did add that.

I have "lock only" at home. In the morning I touch the handle to wake and unlock.
