wonder how many of the senior/top tier coders are working on the VW JV?
The compensation levels and structure of automakers (Rivian included) makes attracting top software talent hard - they need to be sufficiently excited to take home less than they would in other sectors.

“Improved the drivability and control of the vehicle in R (Reverse).”

Looking forward to seeing what they did there. Hopefully this addresses the occasional jerkiness when low speed reverse interacts with brake hold and improves accuracy when backing up to a trailer.

I hope so I face this all the time reversing out of my garage!

also things I’m super excited about:

Driver Assistance Improvements (I unfortunately had been plagued by these. Glad to see it fixed!)
  • Fixed a rare issue that prevented Adaptive High Beams from working due to a false failure.
  • Fixed a rare issue that resulted in the unavailability of driver assistance features after a vehicle wake and required a vehicle reset to recover.

Apple Music Improvements
  • Fixed an issue that caused perceived volume to fluctuate between tracks, particularly when moving between Dolby Atmos and stereo. (Can finally turn on DA again??

also wild they are just now turning this on… 🤦
  • In certain cold conditions, a small section of the front fascia now heats to ensure sensor performance.

Right?

Years ago, it was a standard part of a software project to test and refactor for performance boosts. Today, there are so many layers of libraries, wrappers and apis that refactoring for performance is going down a dark rabbit hole, only to discover the performance issue is in a closed api.

Steve Gibson (old school folks will remember SpinRite) still codes his apps in assembly.

There's really nothing to move the needle for me. Still waiting on launch mode on the G1 quads...

I find this one pretty funny, but not if you have the issue.
  • On Dual-Motor vehicles, fixed a rare issue that caused the vehicle to get stuck in Conserve mode on vehicles that don’t have Conserve mode.

Oh man, tempt us with fixes while giving us more bugs and disabled features they don't tell us about. Choices choices...

Driving a Mach E right now and it has pretty wonky speed control and grabby brakes. It also comes almost to a stop, then coasts without you realizing, then grabs the brakes. A recipe for car sickness. Turn off one pedal and you get some weird clunks and motor activations. Rivian is much further along in this game so don't be too hard on them.

People complain about a bouncy ride in the Rivian. Wow the Mach E is another level of wagon train suspension. Hold on to your kidneys as it doesn't handle that great for a stiff ride. Porsche, BMW and Audi show how a firm suspension doesn't have to compromise your ride. Rivian has options that are pretty good.
