IMO, having "priority update" as part of C+ perks is really a miss from Rivian marketing. Lets assume 2/3rd of existing ~100,000 rivian owner sign up for C+ and I think thats being generous, they add ~10mil to their revenue (minus whatever cost of service is). I think thats just a minor revenue bump to alienated an not insignificant portion of owner. Plus software updates are not only for "nice to have" features, and often contains bug fixes (and for safety!) like the halloween theme bug so having delayed update actually causes safety issue. But on the flip side C+ subscribers are now also beta tester :p

This argument makes no sense. The delayed access actually saved us from a potential safety issue... So ALL updates should be delayed by your logic. You know, for safety...

That depends. Let say if a safety related issue is found only after an update is pushed to all vehicle. Then the next update that is supposed to fix it is only pushed to C+ subscriber. Its all hypothetical at this point maybe Rivian would be doing critical hotfix to all for these scenarios.

We didn't sign up for Connect+ because we live in an area with very unreliable cell service. Given that it was hard to see any point.

Now I sort of see one, but... really? Combining subscription-based rollout timing with Rivian juicing interest early (it turns out) via video teasers seems like very weird marketing - especially with update functionality that has an expiration date. Couldn't this have been handled better? The primary result for us is that we're early adopters who are now feeling like second class citizens.

Since it installed a few days ago, the splash screen comes up every time in turn the car on. For some reason, it loses awareness that I’ve already read through the feature set.

I had a small issue crop up this morning. I got in the truck and my screens remained off. Interestingly, it was fully drivable. I pulled it out of the garage and then did the force reboot of the infotainment system. After that, I had no issues.

Same. My hatred of AT&T far exceeds my interest in these things though. Just wish we had a better idea as to what Rivian is doing.
In my case it is not a hatred of AT&T, but rather lack of reception of AT&T. On the island I live on, T-Mobile rules, so I tether to my phone instead. If we had options of different providers, it would be a no brainer.

How do you change the compass display to show a heading rather than just the NSEW and street name?
It changes automatically when you start driving or stop.

With all the issues I am reading about with the update, I am sort of glad I haven't got it yet (as of 3:54pm Pacific time, 21st October). We are going on vacation in 2 days so even if I was to get it, I would be able to enjoy it for a day and thats it.....we aren't getting back until the 3rd.
