We have 2 EVs and one charger - 48 amp Tesla Wall Charger. It really depends on how often you're going to charge. We rarely need to charge at the same time so it is not a problem. If you're planning on topping up each night on one or both of the vehicles, it will be a hassle. If you can stagger it, I'd go with one charger.

Install 2 chargers. Much easier to manage and future proof. Here is what I did.

We have 2 BEVs and 2 chargers (Emporia and ChargePoint) -- very important for TOU electricity pricing. We mainly charge overnight. It is nice to have options for visiting family members who have BEVs - with multiple chargers, we don't have to worry.
Same. Georgia power gives us very good rates between 11-7. Our commutes have my wife driving 100 miles or more a day and 200 or more for me on average. We both plug in on that charging schedule daily to make EVs work for our family.

@w0ger: Enphase took over Clipper Creek's charger business, including this dual charger for 40-amp circuits: https://enphase.com/store/ev-charge...7V*MTcxNDQzMDE0NC4xLjEuMTcxNDQzMDI3NS4wLjAuMA..

Plug in one car and the Enphase HCS-D40 charger gives 32 amps to that car. Plug in two cars and it gives 16 amps to each car, at least until one of the cars is fully charged. After one car stops charging, most dual chargers switch their maximum power to the other car (up to the maximum amount the remaining car will accept).

That model is pretty spendy, but should be one of the toughest Level 2 chargers out there. (I've seen lots of old Clipper Creek chargers, but I think I've only seen one broken Clipper Creek charger in five years of using public chargers. We own a Clipper Creek, which we keep at the kids' house for occasional use. It's worked perfectly each time we've needed it.) Unlike the two-separate-chargers option, the 32-amp Enphase won't require upgrading an existing 40-amp charger circuit.

***

If it's important to plug each car in only once a night; if it's sometimes important to charge both cars at the same time; and if you already have a 40-amp circuit, consider either the Enphase HCS-D40 above. If you already have, or can install, a 50-amp circuit, consider the Grizzle-E Duo below.

***

If dual charging on the same circuit is helpful, and you have or can afford a 50-amp circuit, consider the Grizzle-E Duo (https://grizzl-e.com/products/grizzl-e-duo/?v=variant_01GR8WYE12GAQPSHA5EQ9ABC0G). Make sure you specify a plug type -- either NEMA 6-50 or NEMA 14-50. Be aware that Grizzle-E Duo has New, Refurbished, and Used options, each with its own price point. All Grizzle-E Duo options are a lot cheaper than the Enphase dual charger.

Grizzle-E Duo is made in Canada. A few years ago, Clipper Creek chargers were made in USA -- but I can't tell where Enphase is currently making their home chargers. Might be China, might be Mexico, might be USA. Customer Service could probably tell you.

When you eventually buy an NACS-equipped EV, you'll need to purchase Tesla adapters for whatever you buy, unless you have a Tesla Universal or similar dual-head charger.

Thanks for buying electric! Enjoy your Rivian!

Thank you all for the responses.

We both work from home, so we don't put a lot of miles on either vehicle. Based on the responses, I think we're going stay with just one charger/EVSE, however, since we have to move the location, I'm going to have 2 50 AMP circuits run, so, if needed, I can add a second EVSE later.

I have an R1S and R1T and I went with a hybrid approach. I have one Rivian hard wired Charger that gives me the max charging power and then a NEMA plug with one of the portable Rivian chargers plugged into it. I found this to be an economical way to ensure I get enough charging capacity, especially before/after road trips.

We have a grizzl-e duo and really like it. Pros include the long cables and simplicity. We did that to make things easy. This way we don’t ever have to think about which car to charge when and there is always a cable available if one of the cars needs it. I also like it because the cables reach the driveway easily so if there’s a project in the garage, the car parked outside can still charge. Good luck implementing your setup.

Edit to add: we also have short commutes and work from home about one day per week.

We have a '23 Ford Mustang Mach-e and looking at purchasing a Rivian R1T later this year.

In order for the R1T to fit in the garage, we need to move the existing JuiceBox charger. In its new location it will reach both vehicles easily in the garage.

As I see it:
Pros to 2 chargers:
- Can charge both EV's at the same time -- how often will we need this - I don't think very often.
- Backup if something happens to one of them

Pros to 1 charger:
- No expense for 2nd charger
- Less cables laying on the garage floor

Does anyone here have 2 EV's? How often are both EV's charging? What are the pros/cons?
Ive got a Rivian...wife has a Lucid...we share a charger...rarely ever need to charge the same day

We have two EV's and two chargers, mostly for convenience. The chargers are located near to where the charge port is on each car, and my wife and I always know that both cars will be charged by morning since we have them both on a charge schedule that starts at midnight.

We have the R1T, a MYP, and a plugin Prius - 1 48a charger. We only charge at night and it has never been an issue. The MYP is usually on level 1 charging, and will hop on the level 2 on rare occasion. We commute 40ish miles each three out of 5 work weeks.

That said, our circuit box is on the opposite side of the house where we park, so running all that copper is an added expense. We did look into that grizzl-e duo, but decided the single charger was good enough for our use case at this property.

If you want to have multiple chargers/EVSE: One 60a - 80a circuit. Two Tesla Universal Wall Chargers ($620 x 2) connected to the single circuit. Configure "power share" option. Both vehicles can charge at the same time. You set max KW power draw per unit. Very easy to install and configure. Lowest cost option for multiple chargers due to lowest hardware cost plus only one circuit/ set of supply wires.

3 EV’s with approx 90 miles a week combined on one charger - no issues yet. If our commute goes up, we may have to plan charging schedules accordingly but for now we just plug whatever vehicles needs it most whenever we think of it.

We'll be a 2 EV family and think the Chargepoint Flex at 25 miles per hour will be sufficient. 200-250 miles each night available for either or half for both exceeds our commutes. In a pinch, either can go up the street to the fast charger EA which charges .35/minute, not KW.

3 evs with about 700 weekly miles. 1 charger in middle of garage that reaches each bay. Charge each one on 3 night rotation.

We have a R1S and Model Y. We have a Tesla wall charger and a Rivian wall charger but only have the Rivian one connected (Tesla one is just curled up collecting dust). We haven’t ran into any issues with overlap. We also live close to like 2-3 super chargers so if anything happens we just zip over there.
