Its been 1 Year to date already with my R1S so here is my 1 year Ownership Log/Review but first a TLDR for those who want the short version.

TLDR: Hands down one of the best vehicles I owned regardless of how it is fueled. It being able to update its components and add features on the fly on a monthly basis is icing on the cake as I have never owned a vehicle like that prior. The vehicle has been majorly bug free with the occasional hiccup but nothing major but you only hear/see the bad parts online so this is a positive saying nothing (knock on wood) major has happened even with me beating up the vehicle since day one on purpose for shakedown testing.

Long Version: I have a Build thread here with a Lot more Details but here are some highs and lows.

Overall my R1S year ownership is now here and I couldn't be happier with the vehicle. Service seems mostly responsive and quick at least when I went early in July but now I hear my local SC is booked until January so Service definitely could use a LOT of work from what I hear otherwise the ownership experience has been relatively painless with it becoming my trusty daily driver with out any hiccups thus far. With all that being said I do run Rivian Owners North America FB Group and I have seen my share of issues but a lot of people only post when they have issues so I am sure there are others like me who are living care free ownership day to day enjoying the experience with not much negative feedback at all.

Interior Wear and Tear:
Interior wear and tear has been minimal really as I have some really great LinerX floor mats and use my favorite interior cleaner for cleaning things up. I did have some window gaskets that were loose/expanding letting in more debris and water (which did not penetrate inside cabin) but I had service replace it and the car has been great.

Suspension:
The suspension since last October has gotten noticeably softer in AP mode which has been wonderful but it also nerfs Sport Mode turning/feedback as Sport mode is basically a lot softer on the turns now giving more porposing as well as not as stiff turning (a problem for very little folks but I enjoyed original sport mode quite a bit as shown on my track video above). Basically sport mode has gotten 50% softer than original from all the updates on 22's.

Tires

Have been relatively great considering I drive normal most of the time with the exception of some spirited driving and racing events (see above). Ill probably need to replace them at 20k miles with my currently level of driving which is acceptable considering the weight of the vehicle. Ill also probably stick with OEM unless a better solution comes along.

Space
I have had 7 full adults in my vehicle for a few weeks but daily we are 2 adults, 1 car seat and 1 dog (30lbs) with plenty of space always available, I would love more storage space but until the replacement speaker/drawer comes along everything that is current will do.

Driving
I work from home so most of my driving is errand based or the occasional fun trip or event planned so that being said I charge maybe 1 time a week up to 75% or so and that usually does enough for me to last thru the week if not 1.5 to 2 weeks. I have done a few long trips from Silver Spring, MD to Ocean City and back as well as Wallops Island and back and have never had a doubt on range estimate. My lowest SoC I arrived home at was 3% which was 11 miles coming from wallops island and I wasn't sweating at all.

Feature/Wishlist
  • Traffic Data Powered by Google (maps display fine but its traffic and route data is consistently wrong, I dont need android auto if the traffic data is accurate)
  • Blind Spot Camera During Lane Changing (apparently its coming)
  • User accounts (Linked to each individuals spotify login etc)
  • Slightly Better PAAK (its getting there but i always have to take my phone out of my pocket)
  • Mid Section Vent Control (right now its linked with front)
  • More Accesories as I have to piecemeal my own lol

That is all for now I will update this as I think of more things or people ask me more things. Enjoy a assortment of my favorite pics.

I have a question for you. I should be getting my R1S any time now, and I was planning on having a full paint correction, ceramic, and tint done first thing. I've gone back and forth on PPF or not. How has your first year held up without PPF? If I do it, it would just be the front end to protect from chips.

PPF wasn't worth the cost for me, GW has the thickest clear and I've had PPF before with rocks going thru PPF around the DC area so I'm fine lol.

Great anniversary review! Did yours come with the frunk doodle or was that an aftermarket accessory?

PPF had pinstripes like the plastic trim but after sitting in the sun they went away

Great review mate! After a year-how does it compare to the Quad? Cheers.

Honestly the quad feels dated only except when you smash the pedal and going WOT. Otherwise it makes me want to get a new quad with all the latest and greatest infotainment.
