I did the update automatically at 4:00AM this past Friday on my 10,000mile R1S, went to get in the car Saturday and the doors would not open. No response to the key FOB either. The update window on my phone suggests the update made it to 19% and stopped. The call center is recommending a tow to the nearest service center 3 hours away. If covered under warranty (hu?) they will pay for the tow, but retrieving the vehicle is at my expense!? I've requested a service tech be sent to my home and I was told that I would hear from the dealership today, but at 1:00PM I've not heard from anyone. I've had a great experience with the car to this point, but something tells me this is going to be an ordeal.

I'd hold off on 2024.51.02. Anyone else have this experience?

This is going to be the ongoing challenge with everyone’s push for OTA updates, especially forced ones.

Either the manufacturer covers anything that happens as a result of a software update even if outside of warranty, or they make it crystal clear it’s not covered, and give an option to actually decline updates.

IMO they should do both.

FWIW after the update our garage quick open button was glitching, and not appearing when actually at the house but randomly coming up when away. A reset seems to have resolved that.

It's possible you experienced a 12V system failure at the time of the install if the vehicle is non-responsive. Curious if you've been contacted for a 12v preventative replacement service and hadn't done it yet?

Update .51.02 went fine for me except the stuttering it was meant to fix, actually made it worse, to the point where any time my finger touched and then moved along the screen, all music (not video) would skip or briefly pause.

I figured it was odd the issue it was meant to address in the hot fix, was actually what caused it to start. I did an infortainment reset after a few days of it, and it completely cleared the issue, thankfully.

I did the .51.02 update the other day and this morning, my R1S had a critical 12V alert to get replaced ASAP. I have an appointment to stop by the Service Center tomorrow.

1. There is no "dealership"

2. Your tale is they only fail I've seen tied to .51.02 since it public distribution went live. Willing to bet something else is going on. What was your SOC % when you started the update? Gen 1 or 2?

It has to be G1, the G2 is getting 51.31

Sounds like a 12V failure in the middle of the update.

More details needed - was the vehicle plugged in during the update? HV SOC?

Does the app show anything? If the app shows the vehicle is offline and the doors won't open then the 12V appears to be dead. You can jump it there is a documented procedure and that might get the doors to open . Not enough info here to provide any really good advice.

Latest updated worked fine on my R1S.
