UPDATE - 13 Month-old battery was salvageable after getting the heavy-duty charging treatment overnight. Might have to pick up a heavy-duty charger and forget to use it this time next year. ?

FWIW... Rivian CS has reported on several occasions that the R1 will not have a 12V battery. We'll know for sure after deliveries begin.

Ten bucks says they figured out how to integrate a super capacitor or something instead of a 12V. Or if that could even be a thing?!?

I mean they're kinda not wrong... It's all how you look at it. True we will to be able to fly...or go back in time, but we're not going to need roads. That I cannot wait for.

The first vehicle to officially scare the crap out of me was a stock 05 STi. Then again I was used to my 04 Yota Matrix XRS at the time, the STi having more than double the HP and Symmetrical AWD? Duh, no brainer.

12V Battery Drain in an ICE car though...yeah maybe if your aftermarket AMP and whatnot were not wired correctly or something.

You should 2JZ swap that Yota! Guessing it's the same gen-ish of that HiLux TopGear dropped from a crane and it still started!

I went from a 91 Chevy Corsica, guessing 100-150 hp to the WRX. With a short stint driving a 41 Willys Jeep(49 ho), after the Corsica died and I had the money for the WRX.

The top gear one was a 22r(carb) or 22re (fuel injection) one or two gens newer then mine with a 20r. 2jz would be way over kill, I can get it over 60 in the dirt quick enough as it. Attached photo is aftermath of hitting a tree in the Gorman sand wash going like 40.

hope so, even Tesla is swapping to lithium from lead acid 12 bolts in the S and X redesign. We replaced so many of those in ours.

surely Rivian is forward looking to avoid this antiquated technology issue.
