Nobody is forcing you to do anything. But, simply for understanding, do the math. Take your $105K figure. The Rivian is $90K (out the door after you pay taxes, license, etc). So, that leaves a $15K profit. Yes, it's a higher profit. But, you now have to go through the hassle of actually buying the vehicle, either arranging financing or coming up with $90K to pay cash for, then get it home, then list it, then find a buyer for it and deal with the hassle of actually selling it, waiting for the title, forwarding the title to the buyer. And that's if you can find a buyer willing to purchase the truck without the title being available at the time of delivery, which it won't be on any new truck as it will take time for DMV to process it. So, you get an extra $5,000, assuming values hold up through the time you actually take delivery of your truck and the time necessary to list and find a buyer for it. Or, take $10K and basically do absolutely nothing other than deposit it. This isn't to try to convince you by any means what so ever, simply because you seem to think it's such a ridiculous offer. $10K for doing nothing, versus maybe $15K and going through all the work, financing, buying, selling, etc, etc. In any case, found my 4 that I was seeking. Took delivery of one, the other three are due in the next 2-4 weeks. So, I'm set. Four people were quite happy to take the easy $10K profit. Might look for one more, but as of this moment, I'm set.My bet is almost all of these "buyers" have been trolls or folks that for some reason believe those who participate in an enthusiast forum of the vehicle in question, wouldn't have common sense when it comes to understanding the market. A quick Autotrader search shows the lowest price at $105k as a private seller and about $115k at a dealer. $10k in cash is a joke, even more so for a LE or pre March pricing. Try around $20k to make it worth someone's time to even think about a payout over flipping that very same vehicle on the open market for more. The extra kick is the "in cash" part, what else would it be in... dogecoin?
Quite a few on E-bay and Cars & Bids. Cars & Bids generally has them pretty reasonably priced, relatively speaking.I would love to buy a Rivian! Any sellers want to take my money?
Not the least bit interested in the argument here but my tax guy who is not an expert on ev rebates yet said there is currently no form available for tax credits from a vehicle put into service in 2022. I assume we will have to wait for new form for this year. Also it seems since they are asking what date the vehicle was put into service then most likely it would have to be registered which means paying taxes on the purchase which could be as much as $7000 or more. If anyone has more information about this let me know.My CPA wife says the EV tax credit isn’t a flag
$90k? That is certainly fuzzy math. I just bought one, in California with some of the highest taxes, and it was $81k after taxes. So that is an extra $9000 over your numbers. Plus if they took ownership and flipped it, they could get the $7500 tax credit (i know you are not supposed to get this if you resell, but you can).Nobody is forcing you to do anything. I had the $2,000 interior upgrade, wheel upgrade, underbody protection, floor mats, cross bars, spare tire, field kit, etc, etc. Was at $89,841 out the door. We're talking about resale, and those options don't really add much to the resell value. Better off getting stock, at $81k and flipping for $110k (or more if you are in a prime area). Exactly. I'm certainly not forcing anyone with a gun to their head to take my offer. A simple choice. No work for an easy $10K. Or go through all the hassles and make a bigger profit, which is certainly available right now. It's an offer on the table. Take it or don't. Entirely the choice of the seller.Can't blame OP. "IF" someone changed their mind yet can make a quick 10K in the process why get in the way of that. OP does make a valid point. Dealers are routinely marking up cars on their lots. Why:? Law of supply and demand. Why roast this guy for being entrepreneurial?
