Even if R1T’s moderate to say $100k private sale, that’s still circa $25k increment to Pre March 1 buyers. The maths still don’t make sense to give OP $15k arbitrage out of the goodness of their hearts.

Dood must be persuasive.

Don't pay attention to OP's paltry offer

If anyone has a delivery coming soon and is willing to part with their order/account, will offer hardy handshake, possibly strong embrace (but not both) for the rights to the reservation.

Send me a Private Message with the details. Serious offer. Thanks

For all those with the Haha reactions. If you care, have already had two replies that are locked in. Keep in mind, per Cars and bids, new rivians are selling now for around $108,000. Out the door costs are right around $90,000. So, you can go through the hassle of purchasing the vehicle, insuring it, financing it or coming up with $90,000 in cash for it, then listing it, then dealing with selling it, having to pay it off, send the title, etc, etc.. Or take $10,000 and basically do absolutely nothing, except deposit $10,000 in your account. Again, based on the two deals I've worked, apparently, at least two others saw the value in that option over having to deal with buying it and hoping that it will still bring $108,000 by the time you get the truck. The prices have been dropping each week on them. So, a month from now, probably will only bring $100,000. Then, it's the same profit, yet a lot more work. Anyway, not as ridiculous of an offer when you really put pen to paper. Am looking for at least a couple more if any others are interested.

Couple of issues - first it is not $90k for thos with a pre 1 March order and there is also a tax credit which gives you a further $7.5K so the net gain is way more than10k at this point

Depending on spec and accessories, yes, it is... Out the door.

I agree especially here in California. I'm bare bones spec at 73k and expecting to be 80k OTD. If your at 80k would for sure be 90k OTD.

That said I don't disagree that 10k for minimum effort is a bad deal. I noticed some recently sold R1Ts under 110k and that will probably continue to fall.

You don't get the tax credit if you immediately resell it. Other's already addressed your pricing inaccuracy.

Nothing technically stopping you from taking the tax credit if you immediately resell. Guidance is based on “intent”. Doubtful it would be challenged if you sold one or two of them, and even then they would need to prove your intent.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm not one that ever wants to test the resolve of the United States IRS. Regardless if I could get away with it, no desire to raise a red flag, which I've heard often times does when these types of credits are applied for. Regardless of how perfect your tax returns might be, they always manage to find SOMETHING! I listed it almost immediately, thus feel I fall outside of the intent of the rebate and therefore in good conscious, won't apply for it.

If you resell it "immediately"... I don't think the new buyer can claim the Fed credit, so if you don't, who will?

Someone needs to get that government cheese.

You misunderstand the rule. The rule is if you buy with the intention of reselling. Literally all you have to do is say "I didn't like it" and the tax credit is yours, there's nothing for the IRS to come after. The rule is for car dealerships so an owner/manager can't personally take the tax credit and resell at msrp as a "demo car" , which is exactly what some Jaguar dealerships were doing with the iPace.

Again, reservation trading/selling is now expressively forbidden by Rivian and guides have been instructed to freeze any preorders with suspicious/transferred information and cancel the reservation entirely if it is found to have been sold.
