Is anyone noticing an unexpected estimated delivery issue after adding the paint protection option to their configuration? just trying to figure out what happened after CS described a late 2022/early 2023 delivery window in an email response a month ago.

Manufacturer installed PPF is better than nothing, but just barely. No paint correction, and no sweating the alignment, just banging it out. You can hope the paint see underneath is good, but if not, you just PPFed it in.

I don’t think it’s much of a deal.

PPF is a ridiculously time consuming process. I for one, was not psyched to see it added to the configurator. But it is great when it’s done right.

I was also appalled at the way he treated CS. Treating them with respect and being nice is totally unacceptable! You have to yell and demand answers. /s

I got the dreaded 'processing' time frame because I live in New Mexico. I switched my delivery address to Phoenix to see if I could change that but checked in with CS and they said almost any change in delivery address will move your delivery time back. It's hard to imagine making my timing worse since they haven't committed to anything anyway.

This is a Nov 2019 Preorder for the R1S with Adventure, Large Pack, Ocean Coast + Dark Ask Wood.

Does anyone have ideas about what the "Processing estimate" message means?

I finally heard back from Kyle/CS agent with the below and the difference between Launch vs Adventure and production hit makes absolutely no sense to me. Is anyone else coming across this? thoughts?
"Regarding the expected delivery timing, I want to mention that we are currently producing Launch Edition R1S, and the Adventure Package R1S (what you have) has not entered production yet. This is why you are seeing other vehicles delivered, even to preorder holders with a later preorder date but have not been assigned a vehicle and VIN yet."

Are there any solid plans for a service center in NM at this point? So “processing“ basically means delayed indefinitely. There is obviously already a center in AZ so I think they are just giving you the standard line about ”any” change delaying your delivery further. If I were in your shoes I would switch to an AZ address if you have that as an option.

New Mexico is a state that won't allow sales or service unless by an independent owner (ie. Rivian can't own it). Tesla has gotten around this by putting a sales and service on Pueblo land (and is opening a second soon). I am hoping Rivian follows Telsa's path and makes an agreement with a pueblo.

Oh that’s right. I knew I saw NM on the dreaded list but I couldn’t remember why. I hope you are right and Rivian goes that same route. It would be easier than attempting to go through the state. Hopefully Tesla didn’t manage to work out another one of those exclusive deals that closed the door to any others behind them. That would also be a bad deal for the Pueblo people.

I am a late reservation holder - placed deposit in Aug of 2022. There's no estimated delivery for me, and I have no configuration other than truck vs. SUV (I'm an R1S reservation). So my reso doesn't even indicate if I want quad or dual motors or anything. Just truck or suv.

As I feared and am being told by Rivian CS/Kyle I am not getting a delivery date because I added the PP on Oct 20th, the date it was announced/made available, which sucks, and the least they can do is to put a do not update or else note on the configurator!!! "Looking back through our log, it does appear that you added the front paint protection on October 20th. Our support teams indicated that the data we used to generate the delivery estimates is from October 16th. Any changes made after this date invalidate the estimate and we have to provide a new estimate in the next quarter (January). This is why you did not receive a new delivery estimate. "
