One might infer the 180 kwh battery is then around 418mi for R1T.

The 316mi range for R1S is excellent! Really, anything above 300mi is perfect for interstate travel for me.

Edit: saw mileage reduction for wheel choice

Quote from Rivian's website: "our battery system was built to explore, delivering an EPA estimated 316 miles of range when paired with 21" wheels. For 20" wheels, our estimates show a range reduction of 10-15%, with a 5-10% reduction for 22" wheels."

Wow so we're looking at 268 to 284 miles on the 20s .... hmmmmm.

Not too shabby! Happy to see the 20s are still in the ballpark.

It'll get me where I want to go, that's the important thing.

Although, are there any electric vehicle out there with lower MPGe??

Curious that the R1S is slightly less efficient than the R1T (assuming I'm reading the kWh/mi figures correctly). That must mean the battery pack in the R1S is slightly larger than what's in the truck.

Yeah - This pretty much firms up my resolve to wait for the larger pack for the R1S... Whatever that ends up being.... If I go conservative and say a loss of 15% that's 268.6 miles..... and that's not counting battery degradation nor straight highway miles.... I could see a full charge on the Large Pack R1S netting around 200-210 actual highway miles... (barely)
*Edit - On the 20's that is... but I always intended on getting the 20's.

It's in the ballpark of the Audi eTron (76) and several of the Taycan trims (67-69). Not bad for a pickup truck. And you can bet the F150 and Hummer are going to be hilariously low (I think the Hummer is pushing 1kwh/mi, so about half the R1T's MPGE).

(Side note - I want to believe this will put all the "They delayed it to hide the bad EPA numbers!" conspiracy theorists to rest, but no doubt they'll just shift gears to "OMG why don't my big heavy mountain+snow rated AT tires get the same efficiency as the custom low rolling resistance all season street tires even though Rivian told us that would be the case all along???")

Honestly I was hoping this is a very conservative number that real life driving will produce way better results. I can see if that is the case but with out real world testing it is a hit or miss when it comes to all these factors.

Kind of disappointing. I was hoping the 20” wheels would have a 300+ range.
Agree, that was what I was hoping for too. I'm now looking at all the hyping that Rivian did of the 20s at the pre-order event through a different lens.

The 30 mile hit on 20’s kinda hurts.

Also, do we know if this 314 is based on the truck being AWD or are they using the newly discovered 2WD conserve power mode?

Yeah, I was betting the Hummer would be comically terrible. Still, it's about what they've been telling us to expect since day 1. More importantly, it's more than sufficient to meet my needs, and still over 2 times what even my Camry is averaging.
