Final thought on startup time for a new facility...the current plant was a Mitsubishi plant, so while a great deal of buildout and some site modification was no doubt required, Rivian started with a building previously used for building cars. Therefore, bypassing all (or much) of the time for site prep, permitting, infrastructure upgrades, and building construction that will be needed for the Texas location.

Yes. Also, as a growth and profit seeking company it is a good idea to place your factory in a pro business state. ?? It's the Tesla plant location model strategy: take the sweetheart deal for the failed car company's old plant then skip town as soon as the locals start doing to you the things they did to help the failed car company fail.

The biggest advantage with that plant after the footprint are the stamping facilities it came with. They bought that place for pennies.
