HB 1222 has been filed to remove the requirement for front license plates on vehicles that do not have a factory front license plate mount.

None of the states that neighbor Texas even require a front plate.

I haven’t had a front license plate for 15 yrs, it isn’t really enforced, but agree on officially getting rid of it, to get me back within the bounds of the law.

I've been pulled over twice in the 25 years I've lived in TX for the sole reason of informing me that a front plate is required. No citation issued, just a courtesy notification.

LOL as likely one of the very few on this forum that has lived for an extended period in both places, this was the first thing I noticed.

But I also support this bill.

I haven't had a front license plate on in at least a decade here in Texas, and never had an issue. In fact, I've never heard of anyone that I actually know getting a ticket for it.
