Can you close the tailgate if you angle the bike in this configuration or is it solely a "tailgate down" set up?

That's a neat idea. What did you settle on for ski mounting? Our nordic skis are too long for the tunnel or bed.

OP (or anyone else that now has some time with a Ride 88), curious if you've noticed any long term issues with driving with the tailgate down? (Besides the back up camera.) Does it bang around a lot on dirt roads or anything? Think it would need PPF being exposed to rock spray?
