I just want to thank everyone on this thread for the excellent insights. Really rare to say this on the internet these days, but all of these takes strike me as thoughtful and useful and really helped save me some time on a project I was going to fluff around with this weekend. :)

I added the adhesive bumps to my crossbars and they seemed to cut down the noise dramatically. I checked today and out of almost 40 bumps all but two of them are still there.

This is what I do. I just hate ignoring this huge beautiful screen to squint at my phone but I don't have time to get routed the wrong way... AGAIN...
