  1. 2 days in new R1S, initial thoughts for new EV owners

Yesterday Rivian dropped off the Ms's new R1S. Black on black on black. Here are my thoughts, in the tint shop today (70% windshield, 20% front windows, 30% rear and 45% sunroof) then she will take over primary duties. Delivery and purchase: Pro: Simple, easy, fast and good communication...
  2. The Competition: 2024 Silverado EV Reviews Are Here

Any real trade worker will not pay $78k for a work truck. An HD 2500, double cab, long bed with some options is $51,000 MSRP. Large companies with public sustainable goals will buy a few. And I forgot, of course the local governments will pony up the money.
  3. Rivian executive acknowledges R1S AC noise problem

next week Iā€™ll be tinting windshield to 75%, front driver/pass 20%, all rear 50%, and sunroof to 20%. If youā€˜ve never driven a vehicle with the windshield tinted youā€™re missing out. Half the time I donā€™t need sunglasses, game changer for heat management and reducing the dash becoming a heat...
  4. Rivian executive acknowledges R1S AC noise problem

irritation is not lemon law. Most likely your state says, the vehicle must be in the shop for 30 days over the course of a year or cause a safety issue which a loud fan/compressor is not. I went through it when I had a replacement engine in our Tahoe and it sat for 30 days without an ETA. The...
  5. New R1S owners, please enlighten us on insurance coverage

I pay $812 annually. We do $1,000 and $500 deductibles, $500k with umbrella policy adding additional $1MM. Collision, comprehensive, property/bodily, uninsured, new car replacement, glass.
  6. R1S Shop access live with lots of inventory!

I got access to the shop June 1st, picked an exact build June 8th when I randomly checked in, paperwork and wire sent that day, they wanted to deliver via KC the following week but I pushed it out to end of June due to vacations. Crazy easy and fast process with quick communications. Scheduled...

  8. Just got invited to R1 Shop for my R1S... Questions

I chatted with them this morning and apparently they assigned a "guide" to me two days ago and production is still scheduled for Aug - Sept.
  9. Just got invited to R1 Shop for my R1S... Questions

This company is so weird. I checked my account now and I have processing estimate and a green bar with access to the shop. Checked my emails, don't see anything that I had access. Of course it is zero available right now but unless my exact build is present, I wont pull the trigger. I wish...
  10. PSA - DO NOT USE LECTRON ADAPTOR w/ Tesla Wall Charger on Rivian

I would just sell the Rivian. Doesn't make sense getting a different charger. That'd be insane.
  11. First customer Dual-Motor R1T rolls off production line!

Based on all the emails I keep getting about 2 week delivery's I'd guess things are rolling along nicely.
  12. R1S - 3 weeks - 1100+ miles - Likes and dislikes

My neighbor just picked one up and its consistent, his first comment, "its built better than Tesla". The other thing he said was the Tesla charger + adapter was faster than his Rivian charger. Not sure if you agree with that sentiment or have tried.
  13. Rivian R1S First Drive from a car guy / Raptor owner

The world needs more people like you but I understand how hard it must be, so perfect, saving the world one car at a time.
  14. Glass roof shade options? to reduce heat

Tint it and be done. Sorry but those shades look shitty. This forum blows my mind, people are so cheap but spend $80k on a vehicle.
  15. On-track: drag racing Rivian R1T vs Model S Plaid (modified)

That has to be the shittiest drag strip Iā€™ve seen
  16. May 9th Earnings Call Discussion

I think profitability becomes better in 2024 when they are post March preorders.
  17. Welcome to Normal: The town that holds the keys to Rivian’s future (via arstechnica)

An honest take, " Tim Fallon, vice-president for manufacturing operations at Rivian, joined the company after 16 years at Nissan. While the start-up did make mistakes, he said, ā€œI wouldnā€™t call it ā€˜production hell.ā€™ I would say itā€™s being in the auto industry.ā€
