Actually For now you have free WiFi in the R1S until Rivian decides what to do about charging. But yes in the wilderness you are limited. -

Not sure why you need an XM tuner at all. If you have XM for a car already, then you should have streaming included. If so, then you can stream XM through the app and BT in the car. I actually love Spotify as the main in my R1S because I simply logged in on Day 1 and all my playlists are now... -

Picked up my R1S on Monday at the Costa Mesa SC. Everything went very smooth - all the new software updates were loaded and we spent some time just going through the basics. Drove it home and put it in the driveway as I had to get out to SEMA. I get back tomorrow night and can't wait to put it...- Tsunami

I did not receive any updates from my Guide. I went over on my own, saw my R1S by VIN, and then told my Guide. She was not sure about delivery timing either. I am just waiting to hear from SC now - assuming it's going through PID this week.- Tsunami

Brutman - its happening! Got my VIN assignment on 9/30. Told 4-6 weeks for delivery. Went by the Costa Mesa SC yesterday and saw my R1S on the lot getting a firmware update. I did not receive any notification that the R1S was on the lot, but I knew they take deliveries at the end of each week...- Tsunami

Stopped by the local SC on a whim this morning - just thinking maybe they had some late week deliveries. AND lo and behold my R1S is on the lot getting a firmware update. Took a close look at the exterior and all the panels and paint look pretty good. Maybe delivery this week?- Tsunami

Yes. In April I was originally told delivery should be expected in May. Then the delivery windows were pushed back and I was given an Oct.-Dec. 2022 window.- Tsunami

It took me 5 months from confirming configuration (April 2022) to getting 8 steps unlocked (Sept. 30, 2022).- Tsunami

Update to this thread - my 8 steps unlocked on Sept. 30 and my R1S is apparently in route. Neither my Guide nor CS could say exactly when the R1S will arrive in Costa Mesa. Hoping mine quickly passes all the inspections once it arrives and that I might be able to take delivery before...- Tsunami

Don't Use USAA insurance for your Rivian
Just price shopped insurance for my new R1S between Rivian/Nationwide, Farmers, State Farm and AAA. I am bundling home/auto/umbrella and the by far the best pricing for the R1S in SoCal was with State Farm. I switched everything to State Farm.- Tsunami
