  1. Tire wear condition at 15k miles, 10 months (photos)

Here’s how I see it: Most sports cars, you maybe do a couple of true max acceleration runs a year. Itā€˜s a mix of mechanical sympathy and not wanting to draw attention. With the R1T I can do thee 3-second launches just running to the grocery store. If you did that in a Ferrari you’d get a...
  2. Rivian updates website: Two 12v outlets now (none in frunk) for R1T

I have the 12v on my R1T and have never used it. I tend to use the frunk for things I take in and out a lot (golf clubs… laptop bag… groceries…) and the gear tunnel for refrigerator or crock pot/slow cooker
  3. Tire wear condition at 15k miles, 10 months (photos)

The traction control does a lot to mask things, but to me the front is intentionally ā€˜understeery’ and that puts a ton of pressure on the front tires. They also do a lot of grappling on hard acceleration even without conserve mode (which I barely use). 7K miles and my fronts are almost down to...
  4. My First and Likely Last Post

I had a Model Y before my R1T. It’s one of the best vehicles on the road. I loved it. It did most things really, really well. Having had my R1T since June, I still think the Tesla Model Y is one of the best cars on the road, but there is absolutely no way I could go back to the MY after the...
  5. Thanks for checking out EV Sportline - Exclusive offer for Rivian Forum members!

Just ordered the truck bed mat to lay my carbon ebike down flat in the bed for short trips. Interesting products. Decent prices. I’ll be back.
  6. Limestone / Ocean Coast R1T Delivery!!!

Congrats - I love the interior. I’m partial to limestone as well. Great build!
  7. Alex on Autos calls out Rivian for line cutting

Agreed, I don’t believe color is a massive decider, though if they’re batching colors (and I believe they are) then a less common color might cause others to ā€˜jump queue’ (even though they really aren’t). For accessories, they generally won’t ship with an IOU… if it’s not available then it...
  8. Alex on Autos calls out Rivian for line cutting

That’s a good approach. The things that were holding me up were not ā€˜the truck’ per-se. It was take-it-or-leave it add-ons like the camp kitchen. I was not late 2021. I think I was early-mid? I was between Blue and Granite. I switched to the granite, but have no clue if that made a...
  9. Alex on Autos calls out Rivian for line cutting

I agree that any preferential treatment is bad. I will also say however that I altered my build to remove anything that was likely a supply chain issue and miraculously got a guide assigned in a couple of days and then had my truck soon after that… and I have no friends. Like, none.
  10. Is the Gear Tunnel Shuttle useful without the Camp Kitchen?

Great for golf clubs, and I even throw my laptop bad in there when going to get work done in coffee shops. Just bought a refrigerator for it but haven’t tried it yet.
  11. Owners: What are your biggest gripes so far?

Occasionally loud fan noise when parked and inconsistent proximity recognition from phone key. Currently the only things that make my list.
  12. R1T Review After 1 Week / 1,000 miles as Owner

997.2 S was my first ever 911, and I loved it, but the weight imbalance in that car makes a comfortable ride a difficult thing to achieve. You have the dichotomy of a stiff and planted rear end with a light and ā€˜nodding’ front end which makes for a fun ride but not necessarily a relaxing one.
  13. R1T Review After 1 Week / 1,000 miles as Owner

Yes, as a C8 owner with MR dampers I can agree. The C8 rides better than it has any right to with those dampers, and I think (using a different technology blend) the R1T accomplishes something similar for a 835hp 7 ton rock crawler.
  14. R1T Review After 1 Week / 1,000 miles as Owner

That is both hilarious and accurate:CWL::CWL:
  15. R1T Review After 1 Week / 1,000 miles as Owner

Mine was May 2021. Mine definitely was not what I’d call dell damped but maybe they’ve improved the suspension architecture. I’m convinced there’s a general lack of wheel travel in the design of the version I had. I think it’ll be an issue with some EVs that don’t have air suspension setups...
  16. R1T Review After 1 Week / 1,000 miles as Owner

My first big trip in the R1T was actually to DC. Hitting up MacArthur in rush hour was probably not the gentlest way to get used to the additional vehicle size… More like immersion learning ;)
  17. R1T Review After 1 Week / 1,000 miles as Owner

Thanks for the warm welcome! I can probably only answer 1) well at this point. I am also used to (and prefer) medium-sized cars. I’m one of those people that will rent a truck from Home Depot and just hope I make it home and back in one piece. Admittedly I initially feel the size as a daily...
  18. R1T Review After 1 Week / 1,000 miles as Owner

Thank you! Yes it is strange where some reviewers draw their references from. To me it’s similar with restaurant reviewers… They can describe a place that - to me - bears little relation to my experience of the same restaurant and the same food. The MY is an easy one. I agree the ride...
  19. Out of Spec: Payload and Range in R1T

I have no idea about payload tests or range tests, but I saw a video of his yesterday where he was describing the ride and handling and I thought he did a much better job than most.
