We reserved the R1S the on the very first day they made reservations available... our price is still hiked $16K. I'm thinking this only applies to the R1Ts being delivered imminently.

Rivian can't back down or wiggle on these prices at all. They know we'll compare notes and they'd ultimately have to give everyone a discount. My config went from $78K to $96K on the R1S. I would easily have been willing to pay $5K or $7K more, but $18K? That + Elon Musk being an absolute legend...
