  1. Any word on home link / garage door opener?

It was crazy simple and I'm mad I haven't done it before. I'm also mad at the lame level of integration that Google Assistant has with myQ. Google is my voice assistant for home automation stuff and I can't just use it to open the door out of the box.
  2. Anyone buying the $500 Rivian Wall Charger?

At $500 that's the same price as the Span Drive. And since I already have a Span panel I will likely go the Span Drive route. It's safer that way since Span won't let me overdraw, like if the charger was running at max output (48A), the AC was on, and something else kicked in. It dynamically...
  3. Any word on home link / garage door opener?

FWIW I just fixed that. Took about 5 minutes. I installed homebridge in a docker container on my home NAS, added the myQ widget, and now "Hey Siri, open the garage door" works great.
  4. New CarPlay Support Email?

Well, in a worst case scenario you can use a Sirius mobile app to play what you want with your phone on the windshield like some base model Kia. It's sad, but I guess it's what they want.
  5. Apple CarPlay and Android for R1T / R1S?

With Tesla...it doesn't. It's a very poor solution. I *have* to use ABRP on a road trip otherwise Tesla will waste too much of my time. The UI is crap, it's VERY hard to put in the stops I know I'm making, etc. Doesn't get traffic info fast enough can't help me avoid jams.... Tesla doesn't...
  6. New CarPlay Support Email?

Great that it works for you. It's a non-starter for me. I much prefer Apple Music. You could put Spotify in a GT3 and give it to me for free and I wouldn't still say I liked it. (Then again, wouldn't need much music in a GT3.) Maybe. But what's odd is I've had 4 different Sirius/XM...
  7. New CarPlay Support Email?

Uhm, no. I can use several navigation apps on CarPlay. And guess what, I use Apple Maps sometimes because they added features that beat the competition.
  8. New CarPlay Support Email?

So a few things about that list: Even Jobs didn't lock in that hard. Guess what, he gave the iPhone apps. And that's what made it work. Apple doesn't force you to use their Maps, they try to compete and make it better. They tie it in to their ecosystem (try using Apple Maps while wearing a...
  9. Apple CarPlay and Android for R1T / R1S?

Why "2 or 3"? Why not 1? I'll say this: If Rivian's nav doesn't include every feature from every other system then it's just a compromise. And a failure, from a certain perspective. And you also left out one of the key benefits of Android Auto/CarPlay: The UI is pretty much the same no...
  10. Apple CarPlay and Android for R1T / R1S?

Ok, first, there's a reason that I said "base" navigation and I want to re-iterate this point which I feel you completely ignored: In a ICE vehicle why would you use the built-in navigation? Can you name a single ICE car that has better navigation than Apple or Google? I haven't seen one, but...
  11. How fast is fast enough (When it comes to charging speeds)?

One of the rest stops we already stop at every time (Tejon Pass) has DC fast charging. I think that's brilliant. I'd rather stop at a nice CalTrans rest stop and charge for a bit while I visit the rest room and stretch my legs. But if it has to be the back of a gas station oh well.
  12. Beginners' guide to EV charging?

I've been getting Facebook ads for a thing that does exactly that...and it supposedly prevents you from using the dryer and the charger at the same time. However, I have a gas dryer so no go for me. But I also have a Span.io panel in my garage and am gonna get a Span Drive. :)
  13. How fast is fast enough (When it comes to charging speeds)?

I've been playing with ABRP for most route trips I need to stop more often than the car would charge. I've been planning on a drive I'm pretty familiar with (San Jose to Palm Springs) and what's interesting is that I'm like "Yeah, I usually stop around here and around here." Looks like there...
  14. Rivian charger vs 3rd party charger?

I am holding out for the Span Drive. I have a Span Panel already. So many cool features that it'll be awesome, including variable charge rates based on current load, charging priority, etc.
  15. Any word on home link / garage door opener?

One gripe I have with MyQ...my MyQ enabled garage door opener DOESN'T support HomeKit unless I buy an additional part to just support HomeKit. *sigh* Don't get me wrong, opening it from my Watch is cool and all, but telling Siri to do it would be better. Sigh, and now one more thing I gotta...
  16. New CarPlay Support Email?

My answer to that would be short and suite. "You're wrong. I tried Spotify. I voted with my wallet. I dropped Spotify and use Apple Music and SiriusXM instead. I'm not going to upend my entire music ecosystem for you." Then he needs to have better developers than Tesla...and Google and...
  17. Apple CarPlay and Android for R1T / R1S?

A possibly better user experience for their customers. The reality is that solving the EV navigation/charging finder issue is difficult. And I don't think that every company trying to develop their own solution is going to work as well as companies who are developing a solution for a larger...
  18. Apple CarPlay and Android for R1T / R1S?

Yes, and no. I'm only going to speak about what I've had experience with, which is Tesla, but even when they control the car, the UI, and the charging network it's kinda lame and hard to work with. There's a reason ABRP exists. My standard long range trip is San Jose to Palm Springs, and I...
