  1. Rivian R2 pricing & production should qualify for $7500 tax credit

One thing people donā€™t realize is many of the traditional auto manufacturers are also having problems with servicing EVs. The wait to get my wifeā€™s id.4 serviced was longer than my Rivian service appointment I just had. that doesnā€™t make a long wait for Rivian any more palatable, but the...
  2. Vampire drain - what's the latest battery % loss people are getting?

I just had my R1S parked at the airport garage in Portland for 60 hours. Only lost a claimed 2 miles of range and 1% of charge according to the car. I notice I lose more at home than that though. I am guessing that means PAAK is to blame
  3. For all the people wanting CarPlay... GM is dropping it

Personally, I refuse to enable ā€œhey siriā€ so I could do this hands free. I donā€™t like always on microphones for privacy reasons. This setup also requires you to look at the phone to know a message has come in. And many people once they look at the phone will just pick it up and read it without...
  4. Suspension is broke… AGAIN

I have to say I have been debating if I keep or sell my 1 month old r1s and this thread is something that makes me think more and more of keeping my Subaru instead.
  5. Suspension is broke… AGAIN

Was there Saturday morning! Of course I had to call EA to reset the one available charger. By the time that happened my battery had cooled down and got crap speeds. Luckily had to go north so I just went to the RAN in Madras and which is awesome.
  6. Software Update 2023.42.0 - Audio Volume

I was having the same issue. Then I got a ā€œadaptive cruise is not available until servicedā€ warning. Did a car reboot to fix that issue (hold left button and hazard light for a few seconds) and both problems seem resolved. Others having the problem might try a reboot.
  7. PNW Roll Call

I finally got my R1S this week! 9/2021 order date. They actually offered to match me with a vehicle in May but I had just quit my job so I pushed it out a few months. 3 days in I am enjoying it, took it from my home in Portland out in to the Gorge this afternoon.
  8. We need AirPlay, not CarPlay

Airplay would handle most of my needs, well other than being able to use a better navigation app or text message integration
  9. Efficiency and Range Numbers Don't Add Up

Another factor: where you park the car overnight. Basically how cold soaked is it in the winter? It takes less time for both the cabin and the battery to come up to temp. The current ambient temp is only one factor there. So 2 people with 10 minute drives in the same weather would see different...
  10. Efficiency and Range Numbers Don't Add Up

For all EV's, if you are running the heater (or, to a lesser extent, the AC) for shortish trips, you spend a lot of energy to get the cabin to your desired temp. Once you have the cabin at temp, it takes less energy to maintain that temp. So in general, longer trips are more efficient...
  11. Scorpion AS+ tire swap (from 20" Scorpion AT) - WOW big difference

If it were simply a matter of the tire diameter being adjusted to properly give range calculations and such then I am guessing Rivian would have the ability to adjust. However the rolling resistance and the weight likely play large factors. So it is much easier for them to say ā€œwe only tested...
  12. Electricity rates went up 64% - Time to work remote remotely!

My ID.4 came with free Electrify America charging for 3 years. My grocery store has 4 chargers. I basically can handle my entire weekly power needs for my car by charging while I grocery shop 1 day a week.
  13. Seattle Expansion

Not sure this makes you feel any better, but the VW dealer in Portland just told me they can't look at an issue with my ID.4 until mid December....
  14. Camp Speaker... POS?

Not to mention that the area in front of the speaker is made useless by needing space to pull the speaker out into. Definitely lots of good ways to use that space for storage.
  15. Rivian updates website: Two 12v outlets now (none in frunk) for R1T

Yeah but finding a bunch of different $1 savings adds up once you are making 100k vehicles. One less outlet here, a magnet there, single molded part instead of needing 10 screws and bolts, etc etc. knock $100 off the total cost and over 100k vehicles you just saved $10m dollars. I would...
  16. Rivian updates website: Two 12v outlets now (none in frunk) for R1T

I would prefer to have more storage or cup holders using the camp speaker space and the area in front where it slides out anyway. I do think eventually the 3rd row will be an extra charge and it will be optional. Most manufacturers do that and it is a way to make more money. I kind of like...
  17. Things you would like added/changed in software updates

Lane centering on unmapped roads Solid text message integration. (Hands free reading and authoring of messages) Apple Music integration Navigation on par with google maps
  18. ANY R1S in 8 steps or delivered in Oregon?

I saw a limestone r1s on 22ā€™s in SE portland today. In a driveway a few blocks from my place. Wanted to knock on the door, but also didnā€™t want to seem crazy. It looks great.
  19. I added CarPlay to my R1T

That would be amazing. The two things I am worried that I will miss, and possibly canā€™t get over not having, from my current car are: 1. CarPlay (text, Apple Music and nav integration) 2. Lane centering on all roads. I assume at some point in the next few years driver+ have will improved, but I...
  20. What is the biggest glaring "miss" you see with the R1x?

Improved navigation, text message integration and more options for music / entertainment apps. (Most easily solved via CarPlay / AA)
