  1. Speed Limit Reading Accuracy is Poor - When Will it Be Addressed?

My Tesla is ancient and I have no comparison data, but my Mercedes Metris was very accurate with the speed limit signs. I agree the Rivian is often off. I live in California.
  2. Small Refrigerator Blew the Inverter

I'm beginning to completely agree with you on this. I didn't realize how sensitive all these inverters are. I'll report back on my 12v testing. My starlink worked fine directly from the car through the inverter, but buying a cheap converter may be in my future.
  3. Small Refrigerator Blew the Inverter

Hm... I do think I had a bad inverter, but the way it has been setup now using the Jackery, I think the refrigerator itself is subpar. I think for some reason the Jackery is also turning off for a weird reason with the refrigerator at extended periods of time. the vehicle has been keeping the...
  4. Small Refrigerator Blew the Inverter

Update: Trying again with a slightly different combination and it is working sort of but well not completely. As per the great advice here, I decided to use the 12V not the 110 plugs. Because of where I want to keep the refrigerator, I decided to daisy chain it using my 1WH Jackery. The...
  5. Small Refrigerator Blew the Inverter

How interesting. I replaced my PeaceVans (tricked out) Metris camper for the R1S. They are physically basically the same size.
  6. Small Refrigerator Blew the Inverter

Just an update, the refrigerator has been running over 24 hours in the house without breaking the fuse. I now suspect it was the Rivian...
  7. Small Refrigerator Blew the Inverter

I completely agree with you on the standard question thing. I often ask complicated questions about things, and I get the 'standard' answer that isn't really the question I asked. It can be a bit frustrating particularly when texting. The service technician was the first person I talked to in...
  8. Small Refrigerator Blew the Inverter

No, the repair itself was at no charge. Took a fair amount of time/hassle to figure out what was going on while on the road and having plans altered without any cold food storage, starlink or the ability to make coffee (I heat up water in a kettle). Then a wait for the service and a week in...
  9. Small Refrigerator Blew the Inverter

you might be onto something. The Rivian person who I spoke to was one of the mechanics, but he may or may not have been one of their electrical people. From what I understood at the service center they only have two people who work on any electrical problems. One who works during the day and...
  10. Small Refrigerator Blew the Inverter

A little more background 'might' be helpful. The weather was a bit on the warm side, maybe around 80 in the evening when plugged in while camping. During this time I did also have a starlink plugged in at the back for some time, while the refrigerator was plugged into the middle console plug...
  11. Small Refrigerator Blew the Inverter

If it doesn't trip after say 3 days, I would be a lot more comfortable trying it again in the Rivian. Maybe not for my upcoming multi week trip but a shorter trip.
  12. Small Refrigerator Blew the Inverter

2026. NACS port and a useable wireless phone charger! Sounds like yes, maybe its the cars.
  13. Small Refrigerator Blew the Inverter

Perfect! Thanks Kevin and Barnum, the fridge is plugged into the laundry room right next to its breaker box. I'll report back after at least 24 hours.
  14. Small Refrigerator Blew the Inverter

Wow this seems like it is either a 'bad' refrigerator or a 'bad' inverter I had. I don't want to test the refrigerator in the R1S and risk blowing the inverter again, I wonder if there is any easy way to test it?
  15. Small Refrigerator Blew the Inverter

Thanks Justin, that's what I was expecting as this tiny thing just is well nothing special. I had tested it on the Jackery as I got it about a month before the R1S and it worked fine for 24 hours off the Jackery. Sounds like your right -- power quality issue.
  16. Small Refrigerator Blew the Inverter

I asked the service center that same question and they strongly suggested to use the standard household plug. I had brought the refrigerator to the service appointment so there wasn't any question of what I was trying to do. Exactly why I didn't get a detailed explanation.
  17. Small Refrigerator Blew the Inverter

Thanks so much for this knowledge. It would be nice if I knew what was 'up to snuff' or not. I guess I could go out and buy some kind of measuring devices (I do have an electrical engineering degree after all :CWL: ) Guess the tiny refrigerator will be saved for just a power outage usage with...
  18. Small Refrigerator Blew the Inverter

Is a refrigerator really viable in a Rivian without an external battery? Or did I just get a bad inverter initially? I replaced my beloved PeaceVans Metris full camper with a R1S thinking I could ‘camp’ when needed as I’m not a hard core camper - more of a stay one night in the vehicle because...
  19. First time off-road in my R1T, Question about descending

Ah, yes I doubt sand or rally would have helped as I think those are tuned for higher speeds. I'm by no means an expert at this and I do have a TRI but an R1S.
  20. First time off-road in my R1T, Question about descending

I'm curious why you didn't try another mode. When I did a gnarly albeit short decent I had no trouble keeping the R1S going very slow with high regen (my default) in rock crawl by just the smallest control of the brake pedal where necessary.
