  1. Tie rod upgrade, CHEAP!! New compatible parts!

Awesome job dude. I think you'll be fine, as so far I've only replaced my driver's side and it was 17 3/8" length by the same measurement, but there was a lot more room for shortening on the passenger side. But if you're on the trail and you break one, replacing it with one that's too long is...
  2. Tie rod upgrade, CHEAP!! New compatible parts!

In any event - I'm grateful that I'm not the only one out there wheeling a Rivian. There's lots of us, and we all enjoy the same thing. So my apologies for letting my pride get the best of me.
  3. Tie rod upgrade, CHEAP!! New compatible parts!

It was the " people damaging their vehicles are the ones who don't know how to drive them off-road " - I admit though that while this line did bother me, I probably jumped the gun and became a little too hyper focused on it. The rest of the comment at that point just grew the frustration...
  4. Tie rod upgrade, CHEAP!! New compatible parts!

Fair enough. I think we've actually narrowed this down to one point where we genuinely disagree. I wasn't trying to say that every Rivian owner is destined to bend a tie rod, or that you aren't off-roading unless you break one. That's broader than what I intended. My point was that if you...
  5. Tie rod upgrade, CHEAP!! New compatible parts!

The gen2 tri motor front axle torque is nearly the same as the gen 1... But regardless, I'm on board with the fact that they beefed them up for multiple reasons. But the tie rod thickness was definitely a point of discussion amongst plenty of rivian owners. One even mentioning that rivian was...
  6. Tie rod upgrade, CHEAP!! New compatible parts!

First let me just explain a little bit about who you just implied "seems like he might know what he's doing" -I've been wheeling for 23 years -I've owned 5 different off road trucks -I run an off road group -I'm also a member of the 4wdabc -I have a Canadian class 5, and a class 1 (trucker's...
  7. Tie rod upgrade, CHEAP!! New compatible parts!

Thanks! Yeah it was your post that gave me the idea to look for 16mm options. Being in Canada, that would have been over 2000cad
  8. Tie rod upgrade, CHEAP!! New compatible parts!

If you wheel it, then yeah, get yourself a spare for the inevitable break.... And pack some tools
  9. Tie rod upgrade, CHEAP!! New compatible parts!

Yep both sides are identical. I did purchase both sets, but there was no point video recording the passenger side. But I'm just going to wait until the passenger side breaks before doing it anyway. (The cost of used rivian gen 2 16mm parts for both sides would have cost about 2 grand)
  10. Tie rod upgrade, CHEAP!! New compatible parts!

I haven't gotten the alignment done yet, as I literally finished this yesterday... Can't buy new tie rods from Rivian yet, at least not in Canada. But the used parts would have totaled over $2000 for both sides. But I got all the moog parts brand new for about $200
  11. Tie rod upgrade, CHEAP!! New compatible parts!

Recently broke a tie rod... Wasn't about to spend nearly a thousand dollars on used parts...
  12. Anyone else do a winch? I think my design might be unique :-D

Thanks! Well, I was going to just switch it on and off manually through an isolator as I show in the video. But I'm going to remove that and add a 30 amp DC to DC charger to completely protect the rivian system.
  13. I've been loving the RMAXX sliders.... Awesome product (with a couple minor issues)

I looked at those as well, they are very similar and very similar in price. But the one bonus I'll give to the EV sportline rmaxx, is the full length 13" wide, quarter inch thick skid plate that runs from front to back. It's a nice, smooth surface and nothing gets hung up on it.
