I hope the funds last until the premium trim is available but It says the 135 million are split evenly amongst the participating 13 manufacturers, so each get a million basically. Divide that by 1750, that's basically less than 600 units...
I just don't see how Rivian doesn't participate when Newsome literally signed the bill surrounded by Rivians and made the exemption for CA based companies. He's sure not looking out for Lucid that's for sure.
There is for sure communication between the state gov and Rivian regarding this incentive, especially with the exemption on CA based EV companies. It passing doesn't mean the fund is actually active yet
you would think they're expanding, not shrinking, especially service team. But whatever it takes to get to profitability is good for long term for this company.

Give me 1 day with the configurator and I'll know exact config I want. People are impatient, half of them will take a preconfig R2 anyways to speed up delivery.
He is likely one of the higher ups too. Unless he's just a friend of the exec who was paid/asked to drive across the country to deliver them the car based on factory delivery stipulation...
Market share and brand awareness is more important right now than higher margin per vehicle. Once the general public knows rivian, the company will take off.

I know some people don't like him from the Luminar "controversy", the dude just did a flawed experiment that hit a nerve with Tesla fans, which can be a culty bunch.
I think it'll be a massive mistake to price it over 60k to launch a mass market vehicle. short term profit isn't worth the potential bad PR on corporate greed. People will understand Launch edition being higher end, but milking every cent out of your customer might not be the move.
