  1. Truck not charging when plugged in

    My Rivian charger does this every few weeks. I have to power cycle the charger as well as unplug and plug back in the truck to get it to work. It acts like the microcontroller inside the charger has locked up. I'm thinking about trying to get it replaced under warranty.

    Same here. I never changed my config from quad max pack, so I don't know what they are talking about. My guess is that they are estimating dual motor max pack, but haven't updated the config data yet.

    I'm surprised that an issue this basic didn't show up during their years of stress tests before production. I wish someone made an EV with the motor built into the hub, like Lordstown does. But that normal people can buy. No CV joints, diff, or gears to deal with.

    Indeed. Maybe some hackers will figure out a way to modify the infotainment code to allow remote desktop redirection to the center console and allow any arbitrary external computer to send its video output to a window on the center screen.

    Android Auto is just a touchscreen mirroring service for the most part. The apps still run on the attached phone. It would have less security vulnerabilities than a built-in web browser.

    This is why any car manufacturer that doesn't include Android Auto/CarPlay shouldn't even be considered for purchase. A car company will never have the developer resources of the entire Android ecosystem. And their nav software will never compete with a trillion dollar software companies'...

    It's decisions like this that give a clue as to how they are going to treat their customers in the future. I'm sure they think they are gonna have the best navigation and music player software in the market. But they don't have the resources to replicate all the apps in the Android ecosystem...

    Apparently they are different enough that Rivian can't provide them at all this year. How many of the prototype vehicles had the Max Pack option? For how obsessed they are with testing, you would think a significant fraction of test vehicles would have that option to work out the kinks.
