I sold my Tesla and purchased an R1S partly to get away from Tesla and the political baggage associated with it. That said, I would still highly recommend the Tesla Universal Wall Connector as the best L2 charging option out there.
In my research I found the most (and least costly) snow tire options for 20" wheels. I went with some Nokian Hakkapellitta R5s and MSW Type 52 wheels from tirerack.
There’s a difference in how a vehicle handles in a corner and the effort to turn the steering wheel. They are two separate things. It is unreasonable to expect an R1S to handle like a P1. It is not unreasonable to expect user adjustable steering effort. The cheapest Tesla Model 3 has it.
I do find the steering a bit overboosted for my tastes on the R1S. It would be nice if there was a setting to tighten it up like previous Audis and Teslas I have owned.
I ordered some Jackpucks.com Magnetic Jack Pucks and then contacted tirerack.com for some Nokian Hakkapeliitta R5s with MSW 52 wheels and TPMS sensors. They showed up at my house two days later via FedEx with free tire mounting/balancing and TPMS installed. That way I could take my time and...

I agree that it is overstated. I watched a lot of Kyle's videos when shopping for an R1S. Those videos were very helpful. He has high praise for the Gen 2 standard battery and its charging curve, but for my main road trip use case, the max battery means no stops at all. I would encourage...
