  1. Farewell - sold my R1T QM and moved to Tesla MY26 - some thoughts and comparison

I own the latest Tesla model with FSD and a gen1 R1S so I can be objective with their respective ADAS systems. Setting aside the unfulfilled promises made by Tesla regarding FSD, it has taken substantial steps recently in its abilities. The vision based system in my Tesla is 10 years ahead of my...
  2. 2025.18.01 installing! Have you received the update?

The last 2 updates have substantially improved the ride quality of my car. I’m usually in soft mode and the compression and rebounding is so much better than before. On 95% of the roads, it now rides better than my wife’s model x. Extremely impressed and makes me wonder how good the gen 2 must...
  3. Suspension Clunking in Gen 2 R1S with 22" Sport Wheels—Is This Normal , fixable?

My g wagon definitely absorbs small impacts better than my Rivian and does not make any clunking noises from the suspension. That being said, the g wagon does not have air suspension and can’t hold a candle to the Rivian on twisty roads. It’s a trade off but I’ve learned to live with the noise...
  4. Does Rivian have what it takes to survive?

I’m no fortune teller so I have no idea if Rivian will survive. The product itself is their strong point and service is their weak point. It is nice to see tons of Rivians on the road out here in LA. I probably run into at least 10 per day now. There are so many out here, in fact, we don’t even...
  5. Out of Spec 10% Challenge of Gen2 R1T dual Max: Massively Negative!

No adapters unfortunately. It’s been a mix of electrify America and EV GO.
  6. Out of Spec 10% Challenge of Gen2 R1T dual Max: Massively Negative!

My gen 1 large pack has been very inconsistent and I’m not sure I understand why. When I took my car to Vegas this summer, it was 120 degrees outside and my car charged like a champ (215kw peak rate, derated to 190kw right before 50% then gradual derating after that). I was extremely impressed...
  7. Rivian service center load and number of car defects that need to be addressed

Setting aside our opinions on what RJ is or isn’t, I’d like to believe that most of us want to see Rivian survive and ultimately succeed. I’ve posted about my negative experiences with service but it was a way for me to vent because I was so frustrated. Me personally, I’ve given up on El Segundo...
  8. It's on. $69K Polestar 3 with 350 miles of range coming in 2025.

I think some facts may help your analysis. As of the end of Q3, Rivian has $6.739 billion in cash (which includes the initial $1 billion investment from VW). Following this week, Rivian will receive an additional $1.3 billion from VW). In 2025, Rivian is set to receive another $1 billion from...
  9. Charging issues - Vehicle Error

The mobile service did come out but he said that I would have to go into the service center. The mobile technician said that they are not equipped to address battery related issues.
  10. Charging issues - Vehicle Error

I’ve had the same issue since purchase. Just got my car back from the SC and they said that one of my pins in the charge port was loose and this was causing the port to give false temperature readings. I’ve charged twice since the repair and all good so far. Hope this helps.
  11. Rivian's Dangerous Gamble: Ignoring Customer Safety for Profit?

Couldn’t agree with you more. Actually, I think you are being too polite. I’ll be the first one to admit that I’ve had issues with my Rivian but the title and substance of this thread are ridiculous. OP - maybe you should be driving your Volkswagen when you go to new places (I own a 992 turbo s...
  12. What’s up with all of the Rivian bashing on here?

Just to put in my two cents, I have griped quite a bit on this forum not because I am a short seller or am invested in any way with Rivian. I’ve also been privileged to own numerous 100k+ cars in my life so it’s not for a lack of exposure to nice cars. I did so because it has been my personal...
  13. Q3 2024 Production / Delivery Numbers… Not good

Agreed. Also, I’ve never owned a 100k vehicle where when you try to make a service appointment at the nearest SC (El Segundo), it says “unavailable.”?
  14. Q3 2024 Production / Delivery Numbers… Not good

I feel you. It pains to trash a car that I own but it has come to this. I still believe that Rivian did a great job with the car for its first effort but the service is a complete disaster and quite the big joke among my friends now. To recap my experience, 1. Steering wheel shaking from day...
  15. I am at a loss, Rivian service is broken and I can't take it anymore

To those owners who are happy with their respective SCs, more power to you and I wish I was you. To those owners who claim they have had a great experience at El Segundo, go on your app right now and try to schedule an appointment. You will not be able to get an appointment THIS YEAR. And please...
  16. Rivian CEO says Apple CarPlay isn’t going to happen…

I appreciate all the arguments regarding the inclusion of CarPlay in our vehicles. I do agree that the current navigation in the Rivian is absolute garbage (I find myself having to look up a destination on my phone because the ETA is so far off in the Rivian navigation). That being said, the...
  17. Rivian Confirms “Well Over 100,000 R2 Pre-Orders” To Date

As an owner of multiple EVs throughout the years, there are many people out there like myself that are absolutely sick of seeing so many Teslas on the road. I still own one and it’s great for what it is but I just don’t feel any sort of individuality when I see my car at every stoplight. That...
  18. My R1S broke down with less than 1000 miles. Makes me doubt the quality of the vehicle or did I get a turtle :(

Since you want to continue this conversation, let’s do that. You state, “Yes they can do better but they aren’t the disaster people make it out to be.” Is your “perfect” experience based in Colorado? In 2023, California had 1,178,948 electric vehicle (EV) registrations, making it the leading...
  19. My R1S broke down with less than 1000 miles. Makes me doubt the quality of the vehicle or did I get a turtle :(

Very well put. I agree with you 100%. All these excuses that some are making for Rivian’s service are not helping the brand at all, especially in the long run. They sound much like the fanboys at the Tesla community and for the most part, sound ridiculous. Rivian is not GM? Rivian is still in...
  20. Service times will kill Rivian

This person is asking current owners if he should buy the car with the caveat that he does not have the luxury of waiting weeks and months to service his car. Shouldn’t the proper response be to ask him where he lives and which service center he will be using (if your intent is on helping him)...
