Video: Preproduction R1T Begin Rolling Off The Line!

For the love of God, though, will Rivian please post a firm price for the various models? I mean, come on, it's only like 9 months away.

    Living Off Grid

Someone (more internet savvy than I) please start on-line petition for Rivian pre-order holders asking, no, begging for the dual-port charging option.

    Living Off Grid

Since Cybertruck won't be offered for 2 years, there's more time to increase efficiencies on the panels. Toyota's already experimenting with panels in the mid-30 percentage range. Switching topics, now that $69K has been set for Elon's 500-mile tri-motor version, let's hope Rivian reconsiders...

    Living Off Grid

I've asked Rivian to consider this option. But I was beaten down by other members here, insisting it couldn't be done (because it would require too many panels and would be too heavy, too large to be practical). Step aside, Elon Musk has entered the room...

    Rivian R1T Colors - Previews

Having been beaten down by nay-sayers in an earlier post here (regarding solar panels)....look here, Elon Musk is simply going ahead and doing exactly that with his cybertruck. So there! https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-cybertruck-daily-range-boosts-solar-panels/

Custom electric camp stove for the gear tunnel debuts at Overland Expo

I can only imagine the noise made from those utensils banging around in the course of driving. But still, a great idea. I'd like a portable shower with hot water too. Plus a berth with solid walls, not a floppy tent. Here's hoping.

Ford invests $500M in Rivian! Partnership to deliver all-new Ford EV

Not only that but Ford's product might be cheaper. Their market is already established....middle-class workers needing something practical, not a roof that can change colors.

    Rivian Servicing & Repairs?

I relayed that sentiment to the youthful Rivian reps at the NY pre-order invite last week. I told the gal "Zab" (I'm sure her summers are endless, her life indestructible) that I was 66. I said Rivian's decision to release the end of next year, that's a freakin' LONG time for us.

    LIVE from Rivian's NY Auto Show Preview Event! (Q&A and R1T / R1S Hands-On)

This version of the video I did features the relevant quotes from RJ's speech. (For what it's worth, the Rivian rep I spoke to quoted a charging time of 30 minutes getting 200 miles worth of electrons.) (Speculating on turn-out....was told it was "over 1000." Many had a partner in tow, so let's...

    Rivian Servicing & Repairs?

The outdoor adventure market includes "preppers." Ignore them at your own peril, I say. For them a solar powerhouse would be a no-brainer, even dedicating the entire rear bed to achieving such a goal. What if the grid goes down? What's the possibility of a rogue attack causing an EMP with...

    Rivian Servicing & Repairs?

You're probably right. But after seeing the modular patents, I couldn't help but add to the wish list. Where's RJ when I need him? (:

    Rivian Servicing & Repairs?

Upon further thought about my solar panel idea, rather than stacking them up on the roof and carrying them that way, Rivian should design a flexible sort of panel that spools out like a carpet. It could be carried in the bed rear (where the aux. battery is to go). Spool out as much as parking...

    Rivian Servicing & Repairs?

Very interesting. The blogger also wrote about the Model 3 here: https://blog.pickmysolar.com/cost-to-charge-a-tesla-model-3-with-solar-vs.-socal-edison Something on the order of 10 panels. Assuming that efficiency keeps increasing each year, along with decreasing weight...it seems doable. A...

    Rivian Servicing & Repairs?

I'm sure you read about Tesla's stock going down after the announcement. It was an underwhelming presentation. Almost embarrassing how unimpressed the crowd was when they unveiled the Y. Even Elon seems disengaged about the Y. Everyone in this forum is waiting for Tesla's pick-up. But if we're...

    Rivian Servicing & Repairs?

I guess we're the first generation in 100 years to experience buying a new-fangled "automobile" without having a clue how it's supposed to be repaired! Back then I bet owners pretty much assumed the responsibility of doing it themselves. I suppose a lot of us are wavering between Tesla's...
