I'm aware that it's not an error and I certainly don't want to melt my converter. It's just another thing to navigate when you're trying to get home from Moab.
I've always had good luck with the chargers at the downtown transit center in Durango (usually plug it in and then head to Ernies). The new tesla charger in Cortez makes Moab a lot easier to get to and has a good Thai restaurant and a couple mexican places. I've never had to wait in Durango...
Huh, I didn't see the kW numbers but noticed that the time it was estimated to take abruptly went from 24 min to 40. It adjusted again and I didn't time it but it definitely slowed the process. You're right that in the end, it's probably not a big deal.
Something else I've noticed when using Tesla fast chargers with a converter is that the converter can heat up in hot weather which causes the charger to dial back the amount of power until is cools off. This happened in Phoenix and the new charger in Cortez, CO.
The Tesla charger in Glendale was charging .63/kwh. It ended up being 55 bucks for 87 kwh and it took 55 minutes because they also slowed it down. I'd still use it over EA in most places that I frequent but that's pretty outrageous.
I'd have been happy to purchase much earlier and put in my $1,000 in December of 2019 but they wouldn't sell to people in New Mexico. You might also notice that the number of chargers in New Mexico is vastly smaller than most states.
It would be nice if instead of giving it first to the people who got the trucks first, they should make concessions for those of us who adopted very early but couldn't get our truck because we live in a state like New Mexico. Which also unfortunately does not have any rivian charges either.
But...
I just talked to someone yesterday from New Mexico who went from feeling like he needed to change his address to Phoenix to get an R1S to having Rivian call him and offer a selection of R1S's that he could choose from. They also promised they would give him a tesla adapter with the truck...
I haven't really looked to see if this is true anywhere else, but I can tell you that the rivian charger in Holbrook Arizona could be very easily doubled in size. I was glad to see that they had the foresight to set that up right. Currently I'm almost always by myself there. But it is a pretty...
I have a grip 6 and it definitely impacts. I'm trying to decide between using that or a roof box heading to Flagstaff. I'm also trying to figure out how to stop the ungodly whistle that the Kuat produces. It was shockingly noisy today.
I'm at home. I just did it. It's at about 15% now. We'll see. Usually I do this without even thinking about it . Just can't help but update. Very glad I didn't notice that first one because I probably would have done it..
Rivian told me that they were mostly concerned because they didn't want me to be so far away from a service center. So they wanted me to wait until they built one. The problem is because I live in Gallup the service center is going to be at least 2 hours away and possibly more like three to...
To finish this story, I was left with the impression from CS that I would have a decent chance of getting this covered by Rivian. I also was led to believe that it should be relatively quick. The service contract I got sent said 0 dollars on it. Then on the day I was supposed to have it there...
I just got an R1S in late September. I changed my address to a friend's apartment in Phoenix. Part of the purchase is to register the car and you choose where. I chose NM and they took care of everything (including tax and registration fees). I got my registration and a license plate in the...
That's hilarious. When I stopped and got out of the vehicle the first thing I could think of was that someone shot at me. I actually looked around to make sure that there wasn't any exit wounds. I do live in New Mexico...
Here's a picture to illustrate. I was driving about 40 mph when the window blew out. The trajectory the rock would have to take in order to hit the window is pretty much impossible. The wheel isn't aligned to the rack and the trays are way too high for rocks to hit.
