I've got a week or so on the 21" Michelins, and they are unbelievably quiet. Noticeably so. Couldn't be happier. They also look better in person than in most images. Especially in the 275/55/21 which means less sidewall.
That's what is weird. On the 21 Defenders, TireRack shows the width at 8.7". I verified on the 60R20s (also TireRack) and you are correct, it lists at 7.8" wide. That is interesting to me.
Am researching all the options with the OEM 21s (going to 60/20, 65/20, or sticking with the 21s) and what's interesting is that based on what I see, the 21 OEM pirellis are not wider than the 21 Defenders. Seems like that changes once you're in the 20 inch wheel range.
YMMV, buy my 21 Pirelli's are down to 3/32 tread and had no issue yesterday in 10 inches of snow. Likely about to switch to 275/60/20 or the 21 Michelin Defenders...but the performance on the Ps has been great.
I wonder if there is a significant improvement in ride quality with the same Michelins on 275/60/R20s vs the 21s. Both 33” tires. I don’t know that anyone has been able to compare both since they probably chose between the two…
We’ve got 6-8in of snow coming over 24-48 hours (which is rare for Arkansas). Would be interested to know how they do in the occasional winter slush.
Yeah they look great. The 20’s show more plain sidewall but seems like the 21s get it about perfect. I may wait until next tire change to swap wheels.
The Continentals look great. There's a whole other thread on it but have been looking at the Nitro Nomad Grapplers and the Yokohama Geolandar CV4S. Both are really all season tires dressed up with a little beef.
I'm in the same boat, but with nearly unanimous praise for the Defenders (which seem to be in stock most everywhere now in the 275/55/R21), it makes the decision to jump to 20s or 22s a little more difficult. The 21 ride quality is great. Can put the Michelins on them for ~$1400 or can do...
I shut the breaker to the Tesla charger (forcing a restart), and then ran the Tesla One app to reconnect and verify the charging amps. Has not been a problem since.
Anyone in this thread want to rent their adapter for this next weekend? Have one on order but it won’t be here in time. Route (north Mississippi, Alabama) has little non Tesla charging. Thanks!!
Leaving for a weekend soccer tournament on Friday April 19. Timing may be too tight, but I’ve got free UPS overnight shipping available to me. Let me know when you receive it!
