  1. Rivian Pausing Georgia Plant

They're not killing R1. It's their flagship, they have said that over and over again. If I remember correctly, when Normal was a Mitsubishi plant, it had a yearly capacity somewhere around 250k. They're currently building 50k, and have expanded parts of the plant. In recent interviews and...
  2. R3X Reveal Shocks Even More!!! 🤯

I literally give zero shits about the stock price. Unless you're day trading, why does it matter? At this point in the company's growth, anyone buying stock should understand that they are doing so for the returns to come in 5+ years when Rivian is profitable. The company seems to be well led...
  3. R3X Reveal Shocks Even More!!! 🤯

That image was my favorite part of the presentation. So cool.
  4. R3X Reveal Shocks Even More!!! 🤯

I think I heard RJ say it's also wider. I'm really hoping Rivian has plans to send this racing. Whether stage Rally or Nitro Rally Cross's electric class, it would be awesome. Also, I want one badly.
  5. Out-of-order signs, payment errors and connection issues: WSJ visited 30 non-Tesla EV charging stations in LA, 40% had issues

From my experiences, it seems that stations I run into with issues have either deferred maintenance (i.e. none, unless it breaks), or older software. The maintenance issue seems to come down to the networks not having enough technicians, or only deploying them for repairs, not for regular...
  6. Out-of-order signs, payment errors and connection issues: WSJ visited 30 non-Tesla EV charging stations in LA, 40% had issues

Here's the thing that frustrates me with stories like these: a lot of these broken charger issues are due to age of the equipment in the LA area, and they get way over covered because that's where so much of the automotive press is located. Back in September, I took my EV conversion, with 60-70...
  7. Knocking noise in the rear of quad motor R1S after parking

Definitely sounds like valves or relays opening and closing. Almost sounds like contactors, but I don't know where those are on a Rivian, and unlikely that they're somewhere that the noise could be heard that clearly.
  8. What the production-delivery gap at Lucid and Rivian reveals

Unpopular opinion: automakers building out their own charging networks is actually working against EV adoption. It's hard for early adopters to understand how many non-EV drivers do not understand that there is a universal standard for non-Tesla EVs, and that there is a substantial amount of...
  9. Rivian Spotted Charging at Tesla Supercharger?!

I'll just add onto this: CHAdeMO uses CANBus communication, just like the rest of the communications within most modern cars. CCS does not, it uses a different and much more complicated communication protocol. What has been learned in the EV conversion world is that this means CHAdeMO is...
  10. Accessing Service Mode

    Quite possible
  11. Accessing Service Mode

MotorTrend just released an article with instructions for accessing service mode: Our 2022 Rivian R1T Has a Secret Software Mode, and We Accessed It (motortrend.com) From the article:
  12. My First Sighting! - Launch Green in Raleigh

I'm sort of shocked that it has taken this long for me to see one in person.
  13. My First Sighting! - Launch Green in Raleigh

I spotted my first Rivian in the wild today! I passed by and literally had to do a u-turn and come back for a closer look. I had places to be so it was just a quick stop for photos (plus it was in a golf club's parking lot), but I do have to say it looked amazing, and I was impressed by how...
  14. Worst fears came true. My R1T died at a light. Update today(8/18)

As someone who has built two EV conversions and had failures in traffic, I figured I would offer a few theories on the potential failure based on how you described it. A disclaimer first: I'm not an electric engineer or a vehicle engineer. I'm just a lunatic that can't leave well enough alone...
  15. Chevy Silverado EV Reveal and Preorder 1.5.2022

Based on the Car and Driver video about the Silverado, a) there is no trans tunnel in the Silverado E, its just storage (they specifically mentioned it) and b) the Silverado is a brand new chassis (shared with Hummer), while the F-150 is an ICE chassis that's been modified.
  16. North Carolina (Raleigh) Rivian Fans

Not that I've seen. Disappointingly, it seems that the entire southeast has not received much attention from Rivian, especially when it comes to physical locations. However, my best guess would be in Charlotte.
  17. RJ Appears to Confirm R1X (Jeep Fighter) Will Be Next Product

The "Did I tell you about that?" seems to perfectly fit his personality (at least what we've seen reported). He is so excited about the launch that he can't remember if he let slip what they are working on.
  18. RJ Appears to Confirm R1X (Jeep Fighter) Will Be Next Product

In talking with MotorTrend, RJ appeared to accidentally confirm the R1X is up next. Relevant section is below, but lots of other good info in the article. Rivian Might Build an Electric Jeep Wrangler Fighter (motortrend.com)
  19. What is your guess for the Day the 1st Rivian is delivered to a Customer?

Here's my take: We know Rivian has two goals in mind when selecting a date for first customer deliveries (assuming all regulatory stuff has been addressed) - Delivering in the month of September - Making a large, positive, splash in both automotive and main stream media. We also know that MT...
  20. Official Rivian Merchandise Store Coming Soon

GM's lawyers are too busy suing Ford for using "cruise". And Ford's are too busy counter-suing over GM trademarking SuperCruise. And based on their products and marketing, Dodge's lawyers are clearly tied up in a back room somewhere.
