It Is happening!!!! My R1T delivery in 4-6 weeks!

For us, it was because our guide had forgotten to send us the preliminary buyer's agreement. Once that got sent to us and signed, everything worked as expected in the buyer's portal.

    First Drives Cancelled in WA

Their way around it is mail order (mixed with a little flagrant disregard). We still need to get the law fixed. It could be that marketing activities (e.g., test drives) are drawing some unwanted scrutiny.

    First Drives Cancelled in WA

Looks like any registered voter can file an initiative. It's 5 bucks. Filings in December, petitions due in July. "For initiatives and referenda filed in 2021 through 2024 - Based on the number of votes cast for the office of Governor at the last regular state gubernatorial election, the...

    First Drives Cancelled in WA

I don't really know anything about how to go about it, but I am honestly surprised Rivian isn't pushing anything. The part-time state legislature seems open to the idea, but they never seem to get past the first hearing on the bill before their session ends.

    Guest charging etiquette

As the host, I try to avoid putting my guests in the position of asking. If we know they're coming in an EV, we'll ask something along the lines of "do you think you'll want to charge while you're here? We're happy to move the car before you arrive." Or if they're friends we know don't have...

    Guest charging etiquette

We have friends who don't have chargers at home and always encourage them to plug in in our driveway. It'll vary a bit with where you are and your rates, but most guests are going to use far less electricity than I spent on the food and drinks to host them. When we visit them, they are similarly...

Navigation system help - how do you map out round trips with charging stops?

CarPlay isn't going to talk to almost any car right now for real time state of charge planning, but it does allow you to use ABRP and PlugShare on your vehicle's screen. Because pretty much any app on your phone you'd want to use in your car just works with CarPlay. No need for the auto maker...

    IRS Guidance On Binding Agreement

https://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/consideration The promise to sell is the consideration Rivian is giving you. You are promising to buy and agreeing that the $100 is non-refundable. What you get if Rivian breaches is not consideration; it's damages. Those have not been specified, so if they...

    IRS Guidance On Binding Agreement

You promised to buy and they promised to sell. You both made "consideration". The $100 operates more like liquidated damages; no cash has to trade hands to consummate a "contract".

    IRS Guidance On Binding Agreement

I think the fact that Rivian the contracts didn't say the $100 was liquidated damages and left open the possibility of further recourse, it may still be fine. Though, since it's all about the technicalities, you may want to find out if a vehicle purchase contract without a VIN and final sales...

PSA: Possible Major Security Issue With Rivian Alarm System

Yeah, smashing the window is harder to test. Somebody has to have a slim jim lying around though... I'm definitely not convinced any truck has a functioning alarm. That's also perhaps not quite as bad as having complete and unfettered access to all the "locked" spaces just because you managed...

PSA: Possible Major Security Issue With Rivian Alarm System

I'm curious if this behavior is because the window was left open or if it's just the default situation. Has anyone figured out if the screens turn on: - If the door is jimmied open? - If the window is smashed? Obviously this video implies these would be true, which would be really bad. But if...

    PaaK issues

This happened to me once. Doing a swipe-up-to-kill of the Rivian app on my phone and re-launching it fixed the problem for me.

Missed opportunity, solar tonneau and hood?

We have a 170" wheelbase sprinter that we managed to squeeze 900W of panels onto by having them overhang the roof slightly on the sides. This array is backed by a 4.8kWh LiFePo4 battery bank. Just for funsies, on sunny days, we'll plug the portable charger into the sprinter system. Even at high...

Toll Tag Transponders / Rivian Windshields

Top edge of the windshield just to the right of the rearview mirror / camera assembly for us. I'm not 100% sure it works since we get plate-matched if there's no transponder detected. But I think it's working...

Do you charge the R1T every night?

We have always plugged all our EVs in every night and not thought about it. Charge cycles are usually measured as a full 100-0-100. A full cycle is much harder on modern EV chemistries than a 30-70-30 kind of pattern. These battery chemistries can generally withstand an order or two of...

My (non-hammock) dog back seat plan

Love it, thanks for sharing your setup @yizzung. Agree the hammocks aren't ideal. They've been good enough for us so far, but always looking for ways to improve it. And when you say the dogs can't find a way to spill that water dish, I heard my dogs both shout "hold my beer!"
