  1. Regenerative braking - revisited

So turns out you're not alone. recent Consumer Reports video on tiktok titled - "Least Favorite Cars we tested in 2023" Host 1 - ... So For me , the Rivian R1S... very low overall score... oddly, owner satisfaction for this car is very high .... it's just undriveable for me, for comfort...
  2. Free LTE Connectivity to end this month

Live-traffic for the navigation system will also be a loss. You would also lose the ability to remote-control the vehicle when parked , remote-monitor when charging, except when the vehicle is on your home wifi. There are easy (but not profitable to Rivian) things that could be done here...
  3. Taycan 4 Cross Turismo + Rivian R1S

I'll post a review in a new thread when they arrive. Note that you have to select 2022 R1S as your vehicle to get to the liners. Link here: https://www.weathertech.com/rivian/2022/r1s/cargo-liner/
  4. Taycan 4 Cross Turismo + Rivian R1S

Have you seen the aux system on the new Ford Bronco? My buddy has the Bronco, I've got to say they did a really good job with that as far as I can tell. Rivian needs to sell more vehicles to create a bigger aftermarket for accessories - WeatherTech has now just finally released a trunk liner...
  5. Taycan 4 Cross Turismo + Rivian R1S

Ha ha , no I do not think comparing the Rivian to a Suburban on build quality is meant to be a compliment. Overall, I'm okay with the build quality, obviously a new manufacturer is going to have issues. I'm keeping a bit of a tally on my Rivian R1S: a) the frunk is not level with the...
  6. PAAK vs Card vs Key Fob -- what do you use?

PAAK 100% of the time. I admittedly am a bit nervous about doing that, one day I came out and the car had just randomly 'forgotten' my phone and I needed to get a key to get into the vehicle and re-program the phone. It can be annoying to not have a key, when you get stuck with valet parking...
  7. Taycan 4 Cross Turismo + Rivian R1S

Howdy Neighbor - congratulations , fantastic car! The cross-turismo spec is rare , I'm sure I'll notice you around town (I'm in Villanova, have a PO Box in Gladwyne). We've got three daily-driver types in our family - An R1S , A Cayenne Turbo, and a Panamera Turbo S e-hybrid. Your reviews...
  8. Taycan 4 Cross Turismo + Rivian R1S

Watch out! There is a group of one-pedalers that will insist you don't know how to drive if you prefer two pedal regen vs. one pedal regen.... Found that out on another thread where I admitted I preferred the Porsche version....
  9. Please re-design or improve the Climate Control / AC Navigation Controls

    1) Another vote that the too many of the HVAC controls are buried too many layers into the touchscreen. 2) There does not seem any rhyme or reason as to which settings go with the driver vs. are driver-independent. 3) The steering wheel heater does not appear to have its own thermostat. #1 +...
  10. Hilarious Cybertruck Test Track Fail

Spent way too long on this, but I agree , I think the truck in the video is rocking Goodyear Wrangler Territory MTs and the show car is just very worn down versions of those.
  11. Regenerative braking - revisited

I wear a size 13 shoe, I don't think I could ride the pedal if I wanted to do so. My heel is always planted. Maybe you just aren't encountering roads as rough as I have to deal with. Or maybe you are just a super driver who can bounce off the their seat, but still keep their foot still on the...
  12. Regenerative braking - revisited

Just to be clear, this way of driving is possible in every regen car I've ever driven, one pedal or two control, does not matter. In the two pedal setup when you step on the brake pedal it starts with regenerative braking only. Only if you push the brake pedal hard enough to call for braking...
  13. Regenerative braking - revisited

Yikes! That is a rough life, maybe they are tiny and canā€™t reach? 100% do not recommend driving that way.
  14. Regenerative braking - revisited

I've tried to debunk the 'I drove stick' thing in another reply - I've driven stick for > 30 yrs and currently own 3 stick shift cars (I think I said 4 earlier, but forgot that I traded my WRX STI in when I picked up the Rivian). I've explained exactly why it happens to me - no amount of...
  15. Regenerative braking - revisited

I'm the OP , I currently own four cars that are stick shift and have been driving stick for 30+ years. I don't think this is the right counter-argument: a) as a stick driver, I would more miss true coasting (clutch in and/or in neutral). But as I said - I can easily live without that, that's...
  16. Regenerative braking - revisited

this does work, it is my hack to deal with the bucking I would otherwise get on some really bumpy roads on my daily drive, where Iā€™m bouncing around in the seat enough that I canā€™t hold the petal still.
  17. Regenerative braking - revisited

or maybe just more self aware? How do you prevent the bucking when you hit bumps? Maybe you arenā€™t driving in sport?
  18. Regenerative braking - revisited

I wonder if the R1T driver ahead of you was just waiting to brake late? Note that you will be able to see your own brake lights status while driving by looking at the Rivian truck image on the dashboard - it's subtle, but the brake lights in the dashboard model turn on/off , easiest to see...
  19. Regenerative braking - revisited

In the 19-page "I cancelled my R1S" thread, there was a comment: I was worried about 1 pedal driving for all of 5 mins on my first ever time driving a Rivian. Iā€™ve had it for two weeks now and I love it. Couldnā€™t imagine not having it. I've had my R1S for six months and I dislike how...
  20. Rivian Ruins My Uber Rider Rating

100% true. I don't think I'll upgrade to a DB12 any time soon. The only reason I keep the DB9 is that its looks have aged well and it is a stick shift V12 - that's increasingly hard to get in any newer car.
