Rivian tops estimates with Q1 deliveries of 13,588 [āš ļø ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS]

The following was in my news feed this morning. Thought it was kinda funny, but also a pretty good analogue for why weā€™re so divided in this country anymore: Same data, completely opposite headlines.

    The @blinker.fluid El Cap Granite R1T delivery/spec/build/journal ...

Local tire and wheel shop. Theyā€™ve done a ton of Rivians (which are a dime a dozen here). They give the requisite ā€œmay not be load rated per factory specā€, but will mount them because theyā€™re rated high enough.

22” Continental Terrain Contact A/T tires resulted in a negligible INCREASE in efficiency (2.07 mi/kwh) compared to OEM Pirellis (2.04 mi/kwh)

I logged a little over 14k miles on these before switching to my winter set up around Thanksgiving. Below is a link to my 11k mile update. I updated again when switching over (at 14k-ish) but canā€™t find the thread. Short version is, still even wear, right at 2.0 mi/kWh (which includes a few...

Winter tires for 22 inch rims

I have Nokian Hakkapeliitta R5 SUV on my R1T, and theyā€™re fantastic. Weā€™ve had about 2 feet of snow over the past 7-10 days, then an ice event from freezing rain / freezing fog the past 24 hours. Roads are a combination of packed ice and deep heavy slush right now (rain falling, then freezing...

Roundtrip Seattle to SoCal in my R1T: Experience and Observations

Great write up and observations. Many of the ā€œchalllengesā€ and shortcomings you experienced ā€” from real world range and charging infrastructure shortcomings to lack of storage cubbies ā€” highlight why Iā€™ve decided to go back to a Raptor. Love my R1T, but a frequent road trip machine it isnā€™t (at...

    24" wheels on R1S

Those (Vossen forged S17-01s) are what I use for the winter set up on my RS5 (paint matched). They look great on the R1S as well ... although I wouldnā€™t go 24s personally.

    22" recommendations?

Averaging 2.0-ish lifetime. Too many variables go into that number though, and Iā€™ve only ever ran these tires (mounted just after delivery) ... so who knows what Iā€™d be getting otherwise. That said, these likely arenā€™t the tires for people who hypermile and always seek max range, who are...

22” Continental Terrain Contact A/T tires resulted in a negligible INCREASE in efficiency (2.07 mi/kwh) compared to OEM Pirellis (2.04 mi/kwh)

Since I just posted this in another thread on 22s, figured it was worth adding here. Swapped the TerrainContact ATs for my winter set up a few days ago. This is what wear looks like on the Contis with 14k miles. Didnā€™t use tread depth gauge (will circle back), but would say they easily have...

    22" recommendations?

Swapped the TerrainContact ATs for my winter set up a few days ago. Here is what wear looks like on the Contis with 14k miles. Since the 11k-mile update I posted (above), I did another 1700+ mile road trip (ie interstate and highway speeds for 600+ mile stretches). That one was entirely All...

22” Continental Terrain Contact A/T tires resulted in a negligible INCREASE in efficiency (2.07 mi/kwh) compared to OEM Pirellis (2.04 mi/kwh)

Forgot to include this. Worth a watch. And worth noting the TerrainContact *is not* 3 Peak rated. He also did one as sort of a follow on comparing the new Nokian nAT (3 Peak rated) against Nokian all season, all weather, and true winter (R5 SUV) ... and the results we somewhat surprising.

22” Continental Terrain Contact A/T tires resulted in a negligible INCREASE in efficiency (2.07 mi/kwh) compared to OEM Pirellis (2.04 mi/kwh)

Given youā€™re ready for replacements, plan to run 20s with ATs, and winter is coming (here), Iā€™d just mount snows on the 22s and run them over winter then got to 20s for the other three seasons. In fact, thatā€™s what Iā€™ll be doing (was my plan all along). That said, Consumer Reports recently...

22” Continental Terrain Contact A/T tires resulted in a negligible INCREASE in efficiency (2.07 mi/kwh) compared to OEM Pirellis (2.04 mi/kwh)

Apologies to the OP for hijacking his thread ... just that I have quite a few miles with this tire already, and I'd like to think it's helpful to those asking questions they can't answer yet. With that in mind, I gave an update on my tread wear in late October ... a week before putting another...

22” Continental Terrain Contact A/T tires resulted in a negligible INCREASE in efficiency (2.07 mi/kwh) compared to OEM Pirellis (2.04 mi/kwh)

Hereā€™s some ElectraFi data from one leg of my last road trip, if youā€™d like to nerd out. See my last reply (to you) for context on vehicle conditions. This segment was basically all up hill, climbing from Willows, CA to Bend, OR ā€” 138ā€™ above sea level over a couple 4000-foot passes to final of...

22” Continental Terrain Contact A/T tires resulted in a negligible INCREASE in efficiency (2.07 mi/kwh) compared to OEM Pirellis (2.04 mi/kwh)

Still based on Load Range. My Raptor came stock with LT315/70/17 BFG AT KO2s in Load Range C, which had a max PSI of 45 or 50. The more common replacement is a 35x12.5 17 in Load Range E, which has a max PSI of like 80. Both are LT tires, one in metric and the other flotation size.

22” Continental Terrain Contact A/T tires resulted in a negligible INCREASE in efficiency (2.07 mi/kwh) compared to OEM Pirellis (2.04 mi/kwh)

This is inaccurate. Load Rating determines max PSI for a tire, and how much PSI is required for a given vehicle. An LT tire with Load Range E, like a BFG KO2 will have a much higher max PSI, like 80 or more, and require around 60 PSI on the Rivian ... but the TerrainContacts are on XL rated, and...

22” Continental Terrain Contact A/T tires resulted in a negligible INCREASE in efficiency (2.07 mi/kwh) compared to OEM Pirellis (2.04 mi/kwh)

Iā€™ve logged three big trips since April on these Contis: two of 3000+ miles and one of 1700 miles. The last one was just done just a couple weeks ago and entirely in All Purpose mode, with some segments in Low ride height. Almost entire Interstate or state highway, with speeds of 75-85 on the...
