Report: Rivian Confirms Plan for Second U.S. Assembly Plant 🏭

As far as I know, only Nio has designed "easily swappable" into their packs/modules. That said, even when difficult, it's generally still designed into the rig (else, it would make doing the warranty work on a battery that needs replacing a complete nightmare). Tesla is the best example of...

Report: Rivian Confirms Plan for Second U.S. Assembly Plant 🏭

Yes, and we all know that every business is static and never changes its model or service offerings (especially if a competitor is offering a better service option).

Report: Rivian Confirms Plan for Second U.S. Assembly Plant 🏭

Who is to say that they won't offer an upgrade option? The beauty of the EV is that you could, in theory, drop the battery back and swap it (so long as the connections are the same), and update the BMS accordingly.

    GM production delay: amateurs

Guess they got tired of shipping trucks missing features and functionality. Apparently the Germans are also amateur's, I wonder how their dealers are explaining this to their customers that placed orders... BMW can't finish production of 10,000 cars over chip crunch (msn.com)

1st deliveries in November says my Rivian Guide. Communication from RJ expected today

Batteries, Semi-Conductors, hell... even paint. Seriously, I can't buy more then 1 gallon of paint at a time from Sherwin Williams right now because of the chaos in Texas closing down/messing up the paint production down there. I asked the dude what the hell I was supposed to do with a gallon of...

1st deliveries in November says my Rivian Guide. Communication from RJ expected today

I find it interesting the armchair quarterbacks on this site are nattering about how Rivian could have planned for these shortages of parts and such.. but seem to be ignoring that GM is releasing trucks with missing options, Ford can't get trucks to dealers, Stellantis, BMW, and other legacy car...

    Camp Kitchen Frustrations? Anyone else?

You must be in upper management, or a class A troll looking for something to do because the rest of the internet is boring.

Electrify America Announces Plan to More than Double Its EV Charging Network by End of 2025

Completely agree. As a Tesla owner, I do my best to avoid non-Tesla charging stations as they can be a pain to use. We need to (and hopefully will) get to the same ease of use we see with a Tesla Super Charger or even a good ole gas station (pull in, pop in a card, hit go). What I do find...

    Electric Ram Truck by 2024

(Dating myself here) Anyone remember those nasty rice crackers from the 80's that had all the appeal of eating ceiling tiles, had no flavour, and left you trying to not choke as you desperately went looking for some water to gag them down with (all in the name of being healthy)? All 4 minutes...

    Rivian Story: Camp Kitchen

She just keeps sitting there... staring into the flames, rocking back and forth slowly... muttering, "Soon" over and over again. ...maybe a bad idea to be camping with her.

    Paint Care Protection Thread

Yeah... I'd expect around a grand in this area (PNW) for a basic treatment, however, I recommend making sure that whatever coating you get has a 9H hardness in the mix (it will bump the price up by about 50%). The more 9H layer you add, the more it will cost, but, also the more durable the...

    Paint Care Protection Thread

100% this. On my truck I have PFF and ceramic coat. The PFF protects it from door dings, rock chips, etc... the ceramic makes keeping it clean stupid easy (stuff just slides off). As he points out, you need to have a maintenance program in place though and the ceramic is not a "forever"...

Who else is pissed that order # doesn't matter?

Uhhh... 100% true, I went through the process 3x. Got a VIN and delivery date on that order for MY22 Audi (not MY21)? And, as the link and supportive articles state, even a big ole legacy maker, still has issues communicating.

Who else is pissed that order # doesn't matter?

So... are you saying that every manufacturer needs to be explicit as to what state, city, and dealer will be getting the first batches? Because, that's not how it works.. that's not how any of that works... even in a legacy dealership model. Even they get allotments and have no idea until...

Wheel/Rim size has a MASSIVE impact on range. Design of the rims also has an impact (how "smooth" they are versus how much churn they cause as they move through the air). This guy summarizes nicely: Why Big Wheels Are A Bad Idea On Electric Cars - Range Impact!

I will note, I was super impressed by the level of thought they put into it. The T-Slides/Locks and modular design is more than I was expecting and helps alievate some worries I had around storage (one of the reasons I didn't opt for it). I'm now second guessing not adding it on (since the Tax...
