Rivian RT1 / R1S will be delivered with 80-90% charge

I didn’t want CarPlay in my 2019 Jeep because I liked CarPlay’s interface - in fact I hadn’t really seen or used it much. I wanted CarPlay in my 2019 Jeep because the UI in my 2012 Jeep was awful and I didn’t trust FCA to do better. I have more confidence in Rivian, but still like the idea of...

    Real Rivian Photos & Videos

It may be an optical illusion or distortion in this shot - the same wrap appears at about 3:06 and it looks normal length there.

R1T climbing steep grade - video posted by RJ

I drive on “unimproved“ river gravel and limestone chat roads a lot. Not quite as intense as this, but can be a challenge between loose rocks and washed out holes. I find these two videos quite reassuring for my most likely off road usage. I’ll be able to get myself stuck in all new and...

Amazon Van prototype spotted with R1T testing in Irvine, California (pics)

Kinda like this maybe? The four of them do kind of look like they're on a mission. Cybertruck is trying to steal energon from PG&E - must be stopped!

It's called "rapid unload mode" - you leave the back door open and punch it. :) Patent pending.

Along with some of the wrapped R1Ts we’ve seen: https://electrek.co/2020/12/13/rivians-amazon-delivery-van-prototype-spotted-in-irvine-calif/ The photos, taken Saturday, show a van that very much looks like a prototype. It’s missing the standard “camouflage”-style wrap that most prototype...

    OS and Messaging

For better or worse (my vote is worse) the Amazon partnership will probably lead them to use a variety of FireOS, which is in turn a variety of Android. The key distinction is that FireOS/Android are not designed as ”real-time” operating systems that would be suitable for vehicle management...

What We Know - Collecting Information Directly From Rivian

Could be something like this I suppose: http://www.invisishade.com/ Google: lcd window shade They’ve been available for architectural use for a while. Not sure the pricing, but would seem that it would have to be cheaper in order to do large windows and such...

Audio system specifics? Amplifier, subwoofer, etc?

For what it’s worth, the shark’s fin antenna on top of the cab in the newest pictures sure looks like a satellite radio antenna. I suppose it could be a dedicated LTE antenna, but I haven’t seen that elsewhere. That argues for both SiriusXM and streaming audio being available. Honestly, I can’t...

Rivian, Tesla, Lucid, others, team up to create ZETA, an industry group for EVs

Yup. Goes pretty far down the supply chain too - materials producers, electric utilities, etc. As distasteful as lobbying can be, I think this is a good thing that will help offset the influence of oil companies.
