  1. Jeep Recon EV SUV 1st Public Sighting. ? Features Removable Doors & Retractable Roof

Its more interesting looking than I expected. Although the tires are crap, its nice that they are using a smaller wheel diameter to have a little more meat. If this comes out at a really good price, and the interior is better than the typical American crap you normally see, it might be hard to...
  2. Gen 1 Vampire Drain (Possibly) Solved (or Hacked)

This is cool and all, but its still wildly inefficient. You are still paying for the electricity from the battery tender. Glad to hear the drain on gen2 vehicles are lower.
  3. Peters Mill Run OHV Trail Shenandoah/George Washington National Forest with R1S

Yeah, I've done Peter's Mill in my CJ7 and my XJ, but we're talking alot more sidewall. And Peters mill is relatively tame. I really wish someone would develop a brake kit so smaller wheels can fit on these things without sacrificing too much stopping distance. Seventeen inch wheels would give...
  4. Vampire drain - what's the latest battery % loss people are getting?

I'm actually fascinated by vampire drain on EVs. I do wonder whether, at some point, there will be regulations that limit vampire drain. Not sure that vampire drain is accounted for in many of the lifecycle emissions I've looked at.
  5. Anyone receive an R2 Configuration Survey from Rivian?

Yep, I got mine and answered it. I think the most interesting fact was how many RWD vs AWD versions I got prompted to choose between. I didnt realize Rivian was considering a RWD only option. For me, I just kept picking the lowest cost AWD option. At least for me, Range isnt a huge...
  6. Guess it was my time - 12v is dead

I see posts like this and I'm like WTF, why isnt this self repairable? Coming from a classic car and Jeep background, I couldnt imagine not being able to self repair something as simple as a 12-V battery. Is this just a function of the vehicles being within the warranty period?
  7. Rivian Lease Deals are extremely favorable right now

Has anyone from DC asked about leasing? Seems like we are out of luck. I would certainly lease until I can get my reserved R2.
  8. Be honest . . . Who bought another R1 because the lease deal is too good to pass on (or wishes they did)

I wish I could actually lease an R1 until the R2 is released. Unfortunately, they don't have leasing for Washington, DC.
  9. R2 Reservation List Tracker + Stats 📊

There is no option to pick DC. So can't fill it out. Oh well.
