Rivian Shuts Down All Facilities to Slow Spread of COVID-19 / Coronavirus

I would have thought they would be further along, but I guess not.

Rivian Shuts Down All Facilities to Slow Spread of COVID-19 / Coronavirus

That is good news, but I still think the general public is going to be a little gun-shy to spend $100k on something right now.

Rivian Shuts Down All Facilities to Slow Spread of COVID-19 / Coronavirus

I agree! As someone else posted earlier, it's just not the impact of the virus and social distancing, but also the financial impact that many people are going through right now. Companies that were giving $100k bonuses to employees a month ago are now shedding their workforce by 50% in some...

When Did You Pre-Order Your Rivian?

This is what a lot of people that have preordered recently, versus when the vehicles were first announced forget about. Not everyone will want/need the biggest battery or all the options, so even though they preordered in 2018, they might actually be behind someone that preordered in 2020. No...

Rivian submitted new Swing and Drop Tailgate patent

Thanks! I think the blue with grey rims is a great combination. A great vehicle and if I didn’t think the Cybertruck was so ugly, I’d buy another Tesla in a heartbeat. Fortunately the green and blue R1S and R1T are growing on me so I’ll await my delivery dates.

Rivian submitted new Swing and Drop Tailgate patent

I realize Rivian has to develop and design for the lowest common denominator, but at what point can someone say- check and see if you have a hitch/ball installed and don’t drop the tailgate past the 90 degree angle? I was assured by Tesla that my Model X falcon doors would stop if they sensed...

What would you like to see on your new Rivian or from the Rivian company??

I agree, Tesla has the upper hand when in comes to the charging network. They’ve been installing and expanding for nearly 10 years, so that’s to be expected. Maybe we can hope for a Supercharger adapter in the future, but I’m not holding my breath. There is already an aftermarket adapter that...

What would you like to see on your new Rivian or from the Rivian company??

I agree, more charging options would help, but I’m a little weary of Rivian piggybacking on the Supercharging network. Yes, they are expanding it, but many of the stations are already constantly packed with many waiting for an open spot. I don’t think Rivian needs to invest in a large scale...

What would you like to see on your new Rivian or from the Rivian company??

I can see that. According to the Rivian website, one can expect about a 50% hit in range if towing at max capacity. I guess if I were going to be towing something that is at my vehicle's max towing, I would opt for something more heavy duty. And again, with current battery technology, I just...

What would you like to see on your new Rivian or from the Rivian company??

Out of curiosity, why would you want this type of range? I understand the “buffer” if you’re off the grid for a week or so, or maybe a “buffer” for hauling something heavy, but normal daily driving or even a road trip- this seems a little excessive for range. My Model X can go 3-3.5hrs before...

    Rivian R1T Colors - Previews

I agree. They had initially said configuration emails would be sent out towards the end of 2019, but after speaking to reps at several events the answer I got was, “more than likely first part of 2020 with test drives being offered mid to late 2020.” I understand wanting to get everything...

    Rivian R1T Colors - Previews

I was thinking the same thing when I read about this Cybertruck feature. I’ve asked this question multiple times at different Rivian events and was always told, “it will never work”. Granted 15 miles is not a lot, but if you're parked for 2,3, or 5 days while camping, hiking, etc., it could...

    Charging multiple EV’s at home

That’s an interesting setup and thanks for the pictures. We’re about 2 months into an addition/renovation with a plan to update and upgrade our panel. I will have my HPWC on one circuit and I’m having another 220/240 installed in my garage on a separate circuit.

Rivians a target of road rage?

My 2000 F150 has been broken into and side swiped multiple times in multiple locations. It doesn’t have any cameras so I don’t know if the perp had a MAGA hat or an Antifa mask, but I roll with the punches and repair what is necessary and ignore the rest. My Tesla has never been targeted, but...

Who might be swayed to Ford?

I guess it boils down to: if you don’t like the headlights, then don’t buy the vehicle. I hate to sound like a smartass, but no one is forcing anyone to buy the vehicle. Initially the headlights were a distraction to me, but I’ve grown to really like the uniqueness of them.

Rivian hitting the road again - announces some Fall 2019 - Winter 2020 destinations

Not a whole lot of new information that can't be found elsewhere on the internet, but I'll post what I asked about: 1. It was confirmed that there will be a travel charging kit (much like Tesla's with different adapters) that can be stored in the frunk in a hidden compartment. 2. I asked how...
