For a truck, I am hopeful that the Rivian will have something like "modes" that could mimic the performance of lower gears. I have never owned an auto transmission vehicle. I love the manual for mountain roads (and the manual is more fun). Will be interesting to see how Rivian handles that...
I saw that Cox Automotive recently did an online consumer survey of potential truck buyers: https://www.coxautoinc.com/market-insights/consumer-snapshot-electric-pickup-trucks/
Obviously, Cox Automotive is a Rivian investor, and the survey was online and quite small (155 potential truck...
this is likely how they will do it. They specifically leave it open in the preorder agreement that Rivian can consent to an assignment of the preorder. People are free to ask CS whether Rivian will consent to transferring their reservation to someone else.
But honestly, who was scalping Rivian...
I totally expect tank turn to be a gimmick “feature.” My Mustang allows you to select a “burn out” mode from the UI. I expect nearly the same thing. You come to a stop. You select “tank turn.” You push the accelerator. You spin in a circle. You probably will damage the truck and tires...
Well . . . there’s nothing prohibiting you from selling it. They just don’t have to honor it if it was sold. Maybe not the smartest investment.
Of course, they don’t have to honor your preorder reservation at all at their discretion, per the agreement.
This also looks like another R1T with the wrap strangely removed on the front end. Total speculation on my part, but I wonder if Rivian had trouble with the initial charging port door design. We saw other vehicles with a replacement panel and a recent vehicle with a new hinge design for the...
Where did you see that?
I've heard they are looking at restoring Tesla's and GM's tax credits, and turning the tax credit into a straight consumer rebate.
This still looks like forest green to me. This one looks a lot like RJ's R1T from the New Year's email.
I suspect that Launch Green will end up looking more like:
Regardless, its a nice looking truck, no?
I had pointed out that the gear tunnel had changed in a different thread.
https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/real-photos-videos.885/post-17535
My thought was just that they modified it to support the "Rivian Shuttle System" that was announced to support the camp kitchen or other...
That's certainly one way to look at it. There would be other people who will say we can't afford to delay the conversion from ICE to EV, and placing new regulations exclusively on vehicles that represent only 1% of the cars on the road may lead to that delay.
This is the sort of thing that may turn people away from electric vehicles, or at the very least diminish one of the benefits in switching from an ICE vehicle. It seems sort of silly to use the noise of a combustion engine as the baseline for pedestrian safety, and develop systems for an EV to...
Only a short look but those cupholders look much more substantial than the previous versions. I like how David said the big improvement was the "fit and finish" of the interior and we got only a few shots at the interior.
That's forest green, mate. Here's a better look at the gear tunnel. Pretty clear match with all the other forest green R1Ts we have seen. We still haven't seen a real launch green vehicle.
