Rivian close to raising new round of funding at $25 billion valuation

Won’t happen. Value is based on future sales and cutting price hurts that exponentially. They’ve got so much invested I think they will lose money at the current price for a while which is okay

I hope Rivian can eventually target more middle class consumers

Their pricing isn’t that far out of line. Cutting battery capacity is unlikely to reduce their build cost much. This will never compete with a base model Tacoma but I could see a stripped version competing with mid-level 1500’s. I think it still remains to be seen if they make it. I hope they do...

Gasp... pure touch interfaces aren't what consumers want

Ford walked back this direction a 5-7 years ago with sync. True the tech has improved but tapping took more attention and was slower and bad I remember it freezing a lot.

Sorry, I didn’t realize i was on the obscure feature request thread with no logical debate. I will see myself out.

What We Do Not Know - Important Information Still Needed to Make an Informed Decision

Totally agree but a wrangler is towed because it’s short and light (and fun). I think I’ve noticed two RV’s towing a full size truck. And you can tow a full-size truck all you want but I don’t get the logic of increasing rolling resistance with a charge system. A trickle charge cable would would...

What We Do Not Know - Important Information Still Needed to Make an Informed Decision

Maybe but unless they make a super lightweight version I don’t know any RV folks personally that would get this. Total RV tow group buying annually is 1,000 vehicles? I have nothing against an RV towing a vehicle but a special feature with such low utilization makes no sense from a R&D...

What We Do Not Know - Important Information Still Needed to Make an Informed Decision

This seems like more trouble than it’s worth because how often it is going be towed? RV’s pull jeeps and small cars adding resistance doesn’t seem like a great idea. Besides, I’ve been behind enough RV’s to notice how slow they already are. Seems like a feature 5% of owners would use about 1% of...

Rivian Configurator is Up For Reservation Holders! Share Your Build / Configuration Inside

Just configured mine. Looks like same cost for 20” wheels and 22.” Settled on 20”.” Only “complaint” is tonneau cover and color. I selected launch green between that and white/black being included in base price. All ugly but I’m not paying more for a color that I will likely scratch anyways. I...

Rivian Configurator is Up For Reservation Holders! Share Your Build / Configuration Inside

Ugh. Making the least common size wheel (21”) standard is lame. Guess I’ll pay 1800 for 20”

    Any FL off grid folks?

Okay guys. Your first problem is referencing power walls. They’re pretty but you can store for a LOT less especially when not having to worry about interconnection to the grid. 90% of my draw will be for cooling and for charging. In Central Florida that’s 9 months of the year and at night summer...

No please stop. Anyone with actual off grid experience?

20” All-Terrain or 22” Sport wheel upgrade included - Which is better 20 or 22

Thanks. Figured that on the 21”. I suspect less than 20” will look funky. Going to that link in seeing $800 for 20” and $900 for 22”. I can live with that.

    Any FL off grid folks?

So it’s a bit off topic but I’m building a barndominium. Walls, slab, roof are done. Approx 4000sqft. I’m in duke service area and instead of bothering with a grid tie I’m thinking off grid. This is ag so I can skirt permitting a bit. I mostly want to power HVAC (est 100,000btu in summer) and...

Are 21” as uncommon as 19” ie generally more expensive and less options?

Introductions! Drop in and say hello new and old members...

Hi. I’m new. Florida. I want a truck for doing modest truck things on the farm and highway travel for work projects. I plan on doing zero off roading (motorcycles are more fun and easier to fix). I love the utility of the Bollinger but it seems that won’t happen soon/if ever. If I can’t take...

20” All-Terrain or 22” Sport wheel upgrade included - Which is better 20 or 22

I like efficient and non flashy and almost always the smaller the wheel the cheaper... so 20” for me. As much as I like the look of AT they’re always nosier on the road and wear faster. No need to reinvent tire sizes unless there is a good reason (I can’t think of any) so the more common the...

    Are you excited or dissapointed?

They qualify for this and likely some other incentives. Keep in mind that Amazon employs more folks in its tax/finance departments than there are probably members of this forum.

    Are you excited or dissapointed?

I’m a pretty new reservation holder. And wanted to say that while I personally would like longer range I think it’s a breath of fresh air to not have a manufacturer (Elon) to force the most expensive highest optioned version at initial release. Now the same applies for silly luxury options that...
