  1. Should I upgrade my Gen1??

Well, a bit of a road block for me - my trade is $67k that they will cut me a check for, but I can’t apply it to the lease so if I buy the car out of the lease (or use $$ to reduce the capital cost), I have to pay full sales tax. That’s a ton in Mass. It went from kind of dumb to rather dumb...
  2. Should I upgrade my Gen1??

I reached out already but this is great to know. Appreciate it!
  3. Should I upgrade my Gen1??

I am currently having this debate given the various incentives. I have a Quad 22k miles, with 20’’. Winter range isn’t terrific and I drive up to VT frequently so a max pack is intriguing. If I maxed out the incentives, it’s about $15-20k to upgrade (via a lease/lease buyout and based on the...
  4. NHTSA Front Suspension Noise/Clunking

yea, I am going to ask about it again before it leaves service. This is super helpful.
  5. NHTSA Front Suspension Noise/Clunking

I just took mine in for the second time. I feel like when I bought it was quiet (other than the sounds of the compressor kicking on and the sound of lowering and raising on occasion). then it got noisy, they replaced the jounce lines and tightened something and it was good, and now its noisy...
  6. Vent windows when exiting?

I also think you can set this up as an automation in Shortcuts. Have it triggered by disconnecting from the Rivian Audio. I’ll test it in a bit.
  7. Software Team Needs a Revamp

Add me to the G1 no issues club. I don’t even find it laggy. I had a Tesla model Y before and I frankly don’t understand why everybody talks about how awesome Tesla software is. Certainly the Rivian driver assistant needs help, but I don’t see any perceivable difference between the two other...
  8. Lease to buyout within 1st month, down payment amount [CA]

If you lease the vehicle, you don’t claim the credit, the leasing company does (and provides you with a $7,500 incentive). That’s the entire purpose of the lease workaround. It allows a potential buyer to get the benefit even if they don’t (or the car wouldn’t) qualify for the buyer federal tax...
  9. The 2025 Rivian R1S Large pack is...uh...not so Large (or efficient)

I would say so (until winter . . .). I am quite happy with the range given I can fit a like living room in the back when I travel.
  10. The 2025 Rivian R1S Large pack is...uh...not so Large (or efficient)

What's the conclusion (in non-video format)? I have a 23 quad with all terrains. I'll get 300 miles in ideal conditions. EDIT - to be clear, I am happy with this and expected it. I am not sure what the OP is getting cause I am not watching a random youtube video to find out).
  11. They took my $500 now what?.... How will this blind date end?

We’re replacing my other car with another Volvo, refused to go to the dealer until all numbers final (one dealer told me they wouldn’t give me a real quote until I come in because they’ll match any price; I ignored them after that - why would I get offers elsewhere and then go to them?). I think...
  12. Poll: Would you buy your Rivian again?

Voted yes; I have none of the issues people complain about (PAAK is function 99% or more; never have to reset; have had the system randomly reset twice in 2 years and other than confusing me briefly, nothing happened; I’ve had nearly no issues scheduling service for the small problems i have had...
  13. 9 days into ownership r1s trimax, not impressed

Good advice and best of luck! The brand will only survive if they sort this stuff out so having people give honest assessments is a good thing. There service wait times better improve! But I will say I had an issue with a wiper (did not work on the driver side which is a problem!) and they...
  14. How can I remove PAAK and use the fob only? PAAK can F all the the way off

It is so wild how different everyone’s experiences are. I’ve never (not one time) used the FOB. PAAK is as good as it was on my Tesla at this point. My main frustration is it is too good. I’ll walk by my car and it unlocks and locks (which is of course fine) even when I am not trying to unlock...
  15. How can I remove PAAK and use the fob only? PAAK can F all the the way off

Just remove the phone key. In the phone app, pick “Drivers and Keys”, choose the driver that the key is under, choose the key you want to delete, then hit delete. I could have sworn lock/unlock worked even with the 2-factor. I don’t recall for sure though. I will say I’ve had no issues with...
  16. Tesla trade-ins data

There it is - he’s back! How about we agree - don’t post anymore about FSD until it is what it is called - full self driving: a level 5 self driving suite. That will be any day now, right? It is so hilarious that you repeatedly denigrate Waymo who is far ahead of Tesla in the real world. Yes...
  17. Tesla nefarious behavior?

I would say the big difference between Waymo and Cybercab is one exists and functions and the other one does not. Just like FSD, robots, etc. etc. Tesla fans, you really need to stop acting as though the thing Musk promises is actually a thing. There is no such thing as FSD. There is a...
  18. Travel with trip

And it is very conservative in my experience. I routinely remove charging stops and get the red warning about making it and then get home with 30 miles. I don’t recommend rolling the dice but if you make similar trips pay attention to the range and you can self calibrate (bearing in mind that...
  19. Bay Area to Tahoe on a single charge in winter?

I do a 170 mile trip to VT up only about 2500 feet; 2/3 is highway. In 0 degrees I have about 20% left. That assumes 70 on the highway. So I would say no to may be barely. That’s gen 1 quad with stock 20s.
