Yeah, I think in the latest video they hinted at a lighter and a darker interior option. I’m sure they’re trying to keep it as simple as possible. I’m very excited for Rivian in 2026.
They’re not going to deviate from what they’ve already developed and created supply chains for, except to simplify things and make them more cost-effective and vertically integrated where possible.
They’ll revisit the R1 a few years from now even though it’ll be less relevant to their overall...
They’ve got to do Rivian Blue. And of course they’ll do black, white, and silver. I’d like to see a brighter or deeper red than Canyon Red’s orangey tones and I personally think Forest Green looks better than Launch Green. Slate green, like Launch Green, is popular right now though. I’m seeing...
That’s not a bad idea. Ninety percent of Tesla’s sales are the Model 3 and Y. At one point they thought they’d stop making the S and X altogether. I feel like Rivian is in a similar boat.
If the Georgia plant gets delayed they should just keep expanding in Normal. They could even use the Lakes...
I agree with you. EV battery tech will also continue to improve decreasing environmental impact and increasing efficiency, charging speeds, and range (think: capacitor improvements; higher voltage architectures; new battery chemistries, like sodium ion; etc.). Just look at any other technology...
They really just need to make wraps more affordable and easier to apply. Then people could be more expressive without being stuck with something for the lifetime of the vehicle.
Whatever happened to nanotechnology that was going to allow us to change our vehicle’s color at will? I would have...
Ah, that’s what I thought. I was hoping that they might have made a few more just for display purposes.
At least we know that the R2 validation builds are out there doing their thing. Let’s hope things keep going according to plan.
I was just going to say that. I don’t think you’re going to see that cork material on the dash anytime soon. The Telo has that on the doors and when asked about it they said they’d like to use it, but in its current state it’s not a very durable material.
I saw this on YouTube today. Very cool. As an art teacher I love that they still sculpt vehicles out of clay.
Do you think the cutout will contain lidar or just cameras, sensors, etc?
It’s 400V for R2 and R3. It’s cheaper, which is why Kia is switching to 400V on their new models. Also if the majority of chargers don’t support 800V there’s really no point. Most people who own EVs charge at home where this doesn’t even matter. It’s only when charging publicly or on road trips...
Rivian hasn’t moved much in ages. It’s a long term investment. If sales plummet this year (2025) the stock will go down, but it’s bound to go up in 2026 if they can get the R2 out under $50K and meet demand. Increase those service centers and the RAN as well. They can do it!
No, they are absolutely not. They’re two different companies selling completely different products with different ethos. The only similarities are that they’re EVs and they can charge on similar networks.
Tesla is a big company selling millions of vehicles globally. Rivian is a still a small...
