Concur re: the Goodyears. I was in the same boat and looking at the same tires, and had the same concerns going from 34" to 33." I ended up going with the Goodyears because they were specifically designed for the Rivian and once they added the ability to change tires in software it removed one...
Still just a PIN with more steps. Also assumes you have security enabled on your phone (not a terrible assumption, but an assumption nevertheless, and something outside of the control of Rivian developers).
This is the thing that puzzles me a bit about this implementation. Typically the multiple factors are "something you know" (e.g. your password) and "something you have" (e.g. your phone). In this case it seems like a bit of a weak implementation because it's just at most two of the same factor...
I restarted the app and it's down to 20% battery usage in the past 24 hours, still the #1 consumer of battery. I guess next I'll try restarting the phone.
Over the past 10 days (as long as I can see in the battery life info) the Rivian app has been using 40% of my battery with background activity.
Has anyone else seen additional battery drain on 3.1?
Not that this excuses it at all, but the fact that you have had zero issues with your Polestar is honestly more surprising to me than the issues with the Rivian. The Geely/Volvo/Google software stack has been nothing but trouble for us, including similar "locked out and/or vehicle won't start"...
I'm not sure either of these is correct. I believe the revised stacking PTC had the same slats and overall mechanism but had various improvements aimed at increasing reliability.
The newest version which rolls up has smaller slats.
From a semantic versioning point of view, I am in the...
I got the 6" aero hitch and it's worked well for a variety of trailers. It does sit pretty close to the truck but I have yet to have an issue with interference or anything like that.
If I had to do it again I might go with the standard weigh-safe instead of the aero. The ball on the base...
They have excellent crash test ratings, that is true, but they are actually among the least safe vehicles on the road, with the highest vehicle fatality rate.
Just got and installed mine. The fit and finish are fabulous and such a noticable improvement over the older version. (I had the raw 3d printed pre-flocking version). Like others mine sits about a quarter inch high at the drivers front corner and it doesn’t really engage the catch in that area...
Curious as to the use case for this idea. You would presumably have to wire them to the door switch so that they could operate on door open/close, so once you're doing that, why not add a power connection?
I'll be honest, this approach concerns me a bit. Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you should. As a prospective customer my sole interest in this is for an integrated CarPlay solution, and I would imagine I'm far from alone in that sentiment.
It's clear from the videos you've...
I would guess this is a safety consideration. Your door may already be opened, and your vehicle has no way to know the current state. Automatically closing it could be considered unsafe. As an example, there is a large tree that blocks my view of my garage door as I approach. I have no way to...
Looks like either the post here or RivianTracker may have a formatting issue. On RivianTrackr, this is nested so that it only applies to Alexa commands, not to the UI in general.
I was in basically the same boat and went with the Goodyears for a few reasons:
1. RIV branded OEM tire means fewer possible potential warranty issues. I do some occasional towing and load carrying, so having them tested and certified by Rivan is reassuring to me.
2. Easier for me to source...
Some before and after pics from today's install.
Before: ~25k miles on OEM Pirelli A/T 265/65/20:
After: Goodyear Wrangler Territory A/T 265/60/20 (still in tire change height)
Have only driven about 10 miles on them so for so cannot draw any real conclusions but the immediate...
I would not worry too much about that thread or let it discourage you from any tire. The OP is well-meaning and puts in a lot of effort, but has a tendency to make broad generalizations and draw conclusions not always well supported by data.
