If you have the cash, this is my camping charging setup:
Tesla Mobile Charger - can find these pretty well priced second hand if you don't want to directly give money to Tesla...
Tesla to J1772 adapter - you may have one already but it not grab one!
This adapter for the mobile charger. It...
I tow with the OEM tires that come with the 21" wheels.
Which reminds me, I should get my next tire rotation scheduled (just about to break 10k miles)...
There's a version of the "99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall" song that I've heard about from people that work in software testing:
99 bugs left in the code,
99 bugs in the code,
Take one down,
Patch it around,
127 bugs in the code!
The point is, computer software is insanely complex. No matter...
It's more likely that the camera is slightly out of alignment. And while the lines are nice to have, it's really where the hitch ball goes that matters, right? 🤪
Standard for sure - gives you some suspension travel without being up too high.
Just be sure to turn off automatic height adjustments when you go to hitch up. Once you have the power cable plugged into the truck, it will stay in the suspension height that you set it to initially.
I tow with a Gen1 R1T Large Pack, but the battery in it is bigger than the Gen2 Large. If my wife and I were buying now, we would go for the Max pack like you are.
We don't tow anything as big as you are (2.7k lb., 16-foot camper), but even in some crazy head & crosswinds we got 140 miles. Big...
That was the first Alto my wife and I saw, about four years ago now...
Does the pop-up aspect of the roof take away a lot of storage, or is there enough in other places?
There are some decent options out there, but my advice is just don't cheap out (so, anything from an Amazon seller that seems too good of a deal).
The higher quality options tend to come from A2Z, TeslaTap, and Lectron. TeslaTap is by far the most expensive, but the quality seems to be unmatched.
Yeah, the bunkhouse setup does reduce the possibilities.
One thing that I do like to suggest regarding charging at the campsite is looking at more State Parks - at least in Washington, Idaho & Oregon there has been no prohibition on charging an EV. I don't have any experience outside of those...
One thing first off is that weight is less of a concern compared to wind/air resistance when figuring out what kind of range hit you'll get. Boxy-er designs will incur more of a hit. That doesn't mean that weight still isn't a factor, but it's less than you think.
Two, what are your needs? How...
I see the Solterra and the Toyota original all over the place here in Eastern Washington - but this is also prime Subaru territory, so that might be a factor.
I don't have pictures of the truck itself loaded up, but I do have some of the results of what I've hauled....
All the bark and rocks for these two projects (about a yard and a half of bark, and another yard of rocks):
And another two-ish yards of the same rock for stuff at my...
And when I was looking in 2022, the wait was at least two years for new. Wife and I were itching to get into something much sooner, and a local dealer showed us the inTechs when we had come in to look at the T@Bs. Salesperson saw how tall I was and knew I wouldn't fit comfortably in the nuCamp rigs.
We wanted to get one of those Altos when first shopping for a trailer, but the wait-list was soooo long, and there are no dealers within 1k miles of where we live that carried them.
