I have had one experience with my Rivian restarting the main screen in 18 months that I can recall. I've had my Model 3 for 6.5 years (and 3x the mileage) and it has had periods where the software seemed really glitchy and restarted fairly frequently, and other periods where it has been stable...
Or you could do what I did - have a kid a bit on the young side, raise him to age 16 as a biker - and just like that, you have a shuttle buddy! (He just shuttled me the first time a few weeks ago haha)
Autosteer is a separate bit of coding in the other Teslas from "FSD". My bet is it wasn't transferrable to the CT (for some technical reason) and they thought they'd rather save some money than update it to implement it.
For the vans, 2 thoughts I had:
- I thought all the vans were FWD so far, but they have a code for AWD
- looks like a right-hand-drive model for export to UK etc?
Sorry to hear your service experience wasn't good. I've had my vehicle in for two items that required extended service, one to Vancouver and another to Calgary (once that SC opened; it is closer to me). Both were very courteous and worked diligently to get my vehicle fixed and back to me. While...
I was very brand loyal, having owned several Subarus since the early 2000's - but they waited too long and Rivian replaced them for me (and then some!), and I expect the R2 to do very well in BC. They will need more Service Centres in BC for them to do really well outside of the Lower Mainland...
Hmm I haven't watched it yet, and usually like Zack's content as thoughtful, but that screen capture totally supports what you wrote above. He tested the weight-carrying ability of the hitch in that screenshot, not the towing capability.
10k is pretty good static, but it would be interesting...
I did just buy an SSD to be able to use the Drive Cam feature and Gear Guard when somewhere that looks a bit dodgy. Camping in National and State parks, so I'm expecting all those places to be ok still (despite recent happenings).
My 184s fit (but none of my XC skis do). But yeah, I do wish the bed were 6-12" longer. Having said that, the pros outweight the cons and I'm happy I have mine.
Edit: I see a few other folks answered this original comment too. Some added colour: I have gone touring with my family of 4 up to...
I started a blog 10 years ago and have converted somewhere over 100 that I know of, likely more. My contribution to trying to nudge the world towards sustainable energy production/usage. Cheers.
Thanks again all! We'll come across I84 and down the I15 to Saint George, then do a kind of weird triangle to Sedona and back up to Moab. I've booked a few campsites with 50A service (and called ahead to confirm I can use it to charge) where ABRP indicated a potential tight leg. Towing our 20'...
I get the occasional coal-roller here, so that'll be no problem lol.
I guess I'm being a bit sensitive - there's a lot of "don't go to the US" stuff right now zooming across my feed.
Thanks for the re-assurance!
I'm guessing what I'm seeing in the media and on Threads (and the like) is making things out of proportion... but trying to get a bit of a pulse on what it is like to drive an EV into the US right now with Cdn plates, or even US plates for that matter, into areas that might be less welcoming to...
Do you have an update on wear for your tires? I'm getting these installed next Tuesday and looking forward to higher efficiency and much less noise than the AT's I'm replacing.
Pretty good! It will vary for everyone of course, based on climate and towing/not towing as my guesses for cause of biggest variance. My lifetime average is only 85% of EPA in AP (2.97 vs 3.5 km/kWh). That includes a fair amount of winter driving (and kids sitting in the truck "idling"), and...
Received my truck also in 1 week + 1 day. They had originally booked me in for a Thursday am, hoping to get me back on the road by end of day Friday. Reason for me to go was for "front drive unit, inverter" - they then opportunistically added my 12v battery replacement and check torque on hub to...
I thought I'd be replying to say I had the motor replaced, but in the end the inverter sealing had failed, causing intermittent faults inside. They just needed to replace the front inverter. Apparently a new part revision from what shipped with my May '23 build. So no motor replacement.
