Dune Rivians now in R1 Shop

It gets a bit jumbled. I took delivery this past Feb, no financing, and also had at least three people involved: - Sales rep - call it whatever you want - Delivery center rep - someone who will schedule pickup/delivery and prep - Some manager - don't know if the person was on the sales or...

Review of Lectron's NEMA 14-50 splitter (not compensated)

I didn't know you could daisy chain them. Is that a supported approach re: electrical codes/inspections? I like the idea...but also don't mind having an extra breaker in the loop. The outlet, as you noted, will always be the weak point in the chain.

Review of Lectron's NEMA 14-50 splitter (not compensated)

I should have noted eliminating the need to plug/unplug and outlet wear creating a risk factor. I'll try to remember to take my IR thermometer to my panel where I have the hardwired charger and see if it's recording different temps when charging at 32 or 48 amps.

Review of Lectron's NEMA 14-50 splitter (not compensated)

Thanks for sharing your setup! It gets cold in NJ in the winters so I like keeping each EV on a plug if I can manage it. I have a hardwired Tesla universal wall connector, not shown in the video, behind the Model Y attached to the house. My challenge was my garage is on a sub-panel, 50 or 60...

Rivian software stability is a real issue we don't talk about

I don't disagree with a zonal approach, it's really just about stability first and timing second. I would have held off and put this in R2 or R3. Or launched R1 with a zonal architecture.

Rivian software stability is a real issue we don't talk about

This is precisely why I abandoned Windows 20+ years ago and never looked back. All my Apple devices are far more stable and easier to use than any Windows machine I ever used. I became accustomed to the Windows issues and found the Apple world to be a tough adjustment initially but everything...

Rivian software stability is a real issue we don't talk about

How quickly we forget. I bought an original iPhone in July 2007. Part of the hardware-software integration was keeping it simple - no app store, only one phone carrier in the US (AT&T), had to update via tethering to a laptop running iTunes (no OTA). Simplicity led to high function, high...

Rivian software stability is a real issue we don't talk about

I did have a couple issues with the Polestar 2 - GPS disappears so no navigation, sometimes it thinks the key was not in the vehicle (PaaK), infotainment reboots. Then they added Carplay and I used that most of the time. It was a 2022, the CPU seemed overtaxed and the software was getting slow...

Rivian software stability is a real issue we don't talk about

I think this is a fantastic idea. Stop shipping random features and spend six months getting things working all the time on every vehicle. If they need to force them to auto-reboot every night for a while, that's fine too. BTW, I've noticed in my mobile app that I turn on seat heaters even...

Review of Lectron's NEMA 14-50 splitter (not compensated)

some days are neater than others. I should have looped them nicely for the video

    Should I upgrade my Gen1??

No. The hardware and software are not improved. There is no "autonomy" offering. Handling over bumps is still very erratic. Steering tuning is off at both low speeds and high speeds. On highways, the vehicle has trouble tracking straight. Interior materials quality is worse than Gen 1 and...

Review of Lectron's NEMA 14-50 splitter (not compensated)

I suspect I'm not alone in expanding my EV fleet. That's the exciting part. Figuring out the charging situation at home? That's a little more complicated so I thought I'd share how I'm using a single NEMA 14-50 outlet to charge 2 EV's every evening without mastering the Olympic sports of Plug...

Rivian software stability is a real issue we don't talk about

Situation: My wife took my son to a doctor's appointment this morning in our 2025 R1S, all good. Some time during the drive the infotainment display just showed a Rivian logo - nav, climate control, etc. were all gone and unlike a Tesla you can not do a soft reset while driving. Luckily the...

Dune Rivians now in R1 Shop

You'd think there would be an easier install, and maybe there is. I've been thinking about some velcro tape, but in all honesty it's sitting underneath the trays so I never see it and it doesn't rattle around down there that I can tell. Still working well

Dune Rivians now in R1 Shop

Agreed, a coil sprung R1S/T changes the used value of air suspension variants by exactly zero - just as it does for various Land Rover models. BUT it might lead to lower entry points and, hopefully, better suspension performance as the current Gen 2 air suspension is quite poor on any road with...

Rivian's active matrix LED's only have a handful of pixels per side?

It's okay, the joggers retinas are probably already scorched from staring at their phones on max brightness while jogging.

that's a nice thesis, but the evidence of a limited trim R1 - more than one in fact - sitting in the shop indicates that there are not enough buyers

Dune Rivians now in R1 Shop

Take out four speakers, do whatever it takes to spike demand and get Normal running at 100% capacity for generating cash flow and improving fixed cost absorption. Heck, bolt closed the frunk and remove all the plastic trim bits if needed. Point is Rivian needs to get prices lower, not launch...

9 days into ownership r1s trimax, not impressed

Tesla ones don't make any noise. Have had three vehicles with Tesla heat pumps.
