Correct. When I bought my 2007 VW Eos V6 on C & B, it was 4.5%. My winning bid was $7777, so not a big hit. But $3250 on a used $65k R1 is another matter. Just more info to add into the gumbo of the purchase price, along with T/L, fees, etc.
For a good idea what the market is doing, go to Cars and Bids. It’s a great site if you’re a car guy, and you can see what all the Rivians have sold for. A 2024 R1S quad with 17k miles recently sold for $65k.
If you want to go from A to B (not a Rivian thing) then an Equinox EV AWD. I’m leasing one waiting for my R2. Roomy, fast enough, reliable (so far.) Not bad looking. Avoid the FWD. And you can get them cheap.
I have owned several RV’s and towed vehicles behind (TOADS). But, I’ve never owned a travel trailer. For the knowledgeable on this forum, here’s a few questions (knowing that the firm information isn’t really out there yet):
How much of a travel trailer will I be able to tow comfortably...
An old Car and Driver column (? P.J. O’Rourke?) about new Jaguars said they needed to come with a Pinto loaner. Maybe a Corolla or Elantra with the R1S.
I have an Equinox EV on lease with an R2 order as well. I went to the Pasadena Space, looked at the R2. Seems very close to the Equinox. The Equinox is 4 inches longer, 2” wider than the R2. The Lyric is bigger still. I think the R2 is closer to the Optic. (Same car, fancied up).
My daughter moved into a house with a 10-30 dryer plug in her garage. We were able to use that at 24 amps, using an automatic splitter from Amazon. Works great, there’s a plug for the dryer and for the EVSE.
Driver rear will make Tesla Supercharger use much easier. My Equinox EV is driver front, more difficult. Easy at EA. I’m 95% at home/rooftop solar anyway, but visiting my daughter 400 miles away requires a couple of charges, and Tesla is clearly most convenient. Apparently they recently...
My M3 was flawless as far as reliability, panel fit, etc. I had a minimally leaky taillight they came out to my house and fixed. Personally I can’t abide the looks of the Y, a loaf of bread with a carp’s mouth, but they are well made, fast, and useful. They don’t have the handling or looks...
I had a M3, liked it, sold it because of ingress/egress issues. (I’m 78) Temporarily have an Equinox AWD EV on lease awaiting my R2. I wouldn’t sell my M3 because of Elon, but I certainly wouldn’t buy one now. There’s something about the world’s richest man, with unimaginable wealth, chainsawing...
