Nice fit on the V2 tonneau! About 1/8" clearance with the generator's rubber feet strategically placed in the bed grooves. Overall V2 tonneau clearance on my Gen 2: 16.75" from bottom of bed grooves; 16.5" from top of bed ridges.
;-) Well thankfully no one was injured, but re: Silverado vs Rivian, here is a pic of the Silverado that rear-ended my stopped R1T at 45 mph… and the damage pic of my truck (although sadly it was totaled). Give me a Rivian for my family any day!
Yeah, I saw that pic before my delivery which is part of what raised my initial questions. Below is a pic taken from the same perspective (and some added lighting) of my delivered G2 with V2 PTC. Hope this adds some clarity for all.
Can you provide any official information on the "bulkhead that ends up installed into the gear tunnel"... I have no awareness of that. And is that related to the 3rd version of the PTC (aka V2)?
And to be clear, the referenced video that "didn't appear to take too long" was swapping the V1 PTC...
Yes, there were a lot of questions and concerns (including by yours truly) regarding those initial V2 reports. For me it was mostly concerns that use of aftermarket gear tunnel slides and storage set ups already designed or on the market might be impacted by changes to the internal gear tunnel...
I am a new (03/26/26) R1T G2 owner with the ‘small slats’ V2 Power Tonneau Cover (PTC) installed when delivered (so no info related specifically to retrofit/replacements). Providing a few comments for clarification of discussion:
@PhiltheCasual :
“…in my head I see the versions as:
V1: Original...
Thanks! The Storm Blue like yours was the only thing that had me leaning hard toward a tri. But I got matt PPF on my El Cap Granite and now with the tonneau working again I’m a happy guy!
SOLVED!
@onesoil, thanks SO MUCH!
I read your post here regarding the calibration routine… which I had already tried. But I checked the thread you referenced anyway and noticed the comments about “no pauses between button presses” when performing the calibration routine.
The calibration...
I (original poster) do indeed have the V2 PTC. It is, in fact, available on various G2s besides the Dune. The V2 slats are 40mm wide - little over 1.5”.
Sadly, a familiar story, much like mine. REALLY glad you were in the R1T - an expensive 'brick', but it can take and absorb a punch. Glad that you were all OK.
Sorry, I should have been more clear...
Service first suggested that I would need to come to the Service Center to get my V2 tonneau issue resolved (calibration, adjustment, whatever). I told them fine... but with my brand new (2nd) R1T that I was not willing to put it in the shop for multiple...
Based on your comment I checked this out… locked/unlocked… with/without PAAK… with keycard in place on the center console…no change with any of those attempts. Thanks.
